And, how do those circumstances bring about patience or humility?

I was in a situation where I couldn't afford groceries for about a month. I asked God to provide for me, and let me tell you he did. Three food hampers showed up on my doorstep from different organizations on different days. My pride made me feel embarrassed, or ashamed, it was a very humbling experience. I was embarrassed that people knew about my situation. I had to humble myself however, and thank God for providing. That's just one example.

An example of being patient.... I'm currently in a situation where I have to move. I had a serious problem that involved the police with my landlords. They are currently out of the country for 6 months, so I know that I don't have to do it right away. I am also on maternity leave right now, and may not have my job to go back to. I am completely trusting God to provide a new place to live, and to provide a new job for me. I have no choice but to be patient. When I start to get anxious or feel stressed and my mind starts to go crazy, I have to remind myself that He is in control and I am continually giving it over to Him. This is teaching me to be patient or else go crazy. Hope this answers your situation. God Bless

Very difficult to explain. But I will say that I have learned patience and humility in the last year and a half. It took a very unusual experience to bring it about and it won't be discussed here but I can say that I feel much better for it. I may have days when my patience wears thin, but after all I am human, but my humility is working constantly; believe me. I am very humbled by the experience I have been going through. It has taught me love, true and genuine love without reason.........

To learn patience or humility u have to be in circumstances that test those two attributes...try a checkout line at Walmart or thinking about the number of people currently on the planet for those.

The more crap that is laid before us. The greater heights we
reach as human, and spiritual beings.
Patience and humility depend on the individual. Many today
live lives as people they injured in other lives. Yes, Christianity first taught reincarnation, but it was later dropped because of false pride, due to the fact it was an Eastern belief too. Jesus
said Elijah came back as John the Baptist. Two references in
Matthew.
And the ones today that complain the most about their lot in life.
Owe the most.

generally speaking, I cannot say. Personally, I will tell you that He puts my face into the dung and I walk in the valley of humiliation for a few years...no, wait, that was pride.

I'm not sure about the patient part. Just watch out for laziness. Make sure you are not mistaking one for the other.

Everyone's circumstance is different. Some people have a deeper well of patience to begin with, and just to let you know, it's a gift and you pray for it. In order to keep it, you must contantly "repair" your soul. Make of your soul a perfect vessel. Go to God for many repairs, then when you are repaired to as best a condition as you can see, ask for every perfect grace. You will recieve it and hold it perfectly. Just don't forget to keep getting repaired.

That is to say, don't give up on yourself.

This site has helped me become more patient and humble than any other situation in life. I am a Christian and I have tried to make my life a reflection of that. I try to be loving, understanding, compassionate, and forgiving at all times, but I also have a bad temper when I get angry. I found myself "arguing" and "insulting" some of the atheists on this site who were mocking my faith in the Lord and belittling Jesus. I feel that God has changed my mind and my heart through the Word of the Lord (the Bible). I now find myself rebutting with love and kindness - soft words to express my beliefs rather than harsh words. I try not to judge others and I try to be more accepting and tolerant of others who are different than myself.

Firstly, you must understand they "words" in the bible, all the stories, parables, and predictions, then you must practice it, it's not easy, but if you humble yourself instead of reacting to others then it get easier as you watch them fighting the petty fights, know that your knowledge and practice puts you above the stupidity of the bullshhhh, it's tuff to be humble and patient and there are times that you must make a stand but choose the fights wisely, for something that matters, knowing that people are rotten in so many ways helps too, that's not cynicism that's just a fact, people are too damn proud to step aside, step back, or step down, know this is almost the whole battle.

It varies so much for each Christian. The book of James says to count it all joy when we fall into various types of trials, for the testing of our faith produces perseverance.

I know with me & my husband, he's purifying us right now. We had a lot of pride with a successful business and not only are we experiencing financial difficulty -- but it came to light for all to see. It was VERY humbling, but God is also faithful and delivering us through this because we received his chastening.

He works on my patience constantly, and I'm a slow learner... dogs, my kid, my in-laws, everything...

The circumstances only bring about patience/humility if you receive them with a mind and heart open to what God is teaching you. If you refuse the teaching, you may "stay in the wilderness" as the Israelites did for 40 years in Exodus.

Prayer brings forth humility and patience and it strengthens our faith. We must also meditate daily in his words. God comforts us thru difficult circumstances with peace. We are to persevere in prayer in trials and tribulations by remembering eternal reward and most than anything what Jesus has done for us on the cross.
Persecution is one of greatest test and we must remain humble when in spiritual warfare or remove ourselves from bad circumstances if our flesh is weak or tempted to do evil. God does not slack in his promises.

Shalom

Sorry, but God isn't going to help you become patient or humble. You gotta do it yourself, like everything else. It's time for you to take responsibility for your own actions and stop waiting for God to solve your problems. Now don't let me have to tell you again. You're making me lose my patience and humility!
