When Hannah prayed for a son, she was thought by the High Priest to be drunk. Yet God answered her prayers.
"Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken." (I Samuel 1:13)
"Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the Lord." (I Samuel 1:20)
So, if you are looking for biblical support for your question, this is one.

Of course you can pray in your mind. God knows our every thought. He knows what you are doing at all times. But when you pray out loud it is very comforting. Just start saying your prayer out loud when you are alone in your car or if you are alone in your house. Just talk to God like you would your best friend. Give him your full attention and don't expect him to answer right away. Sometimes God answers our prayers and we do not even realize it until months or years later. Once you get comfortable with talking to him out loud, try praying with a friend outloud and then try it with a group of people. It is very liberating and you will feel a connection that you just can't get by praying in your mind. Just give it a try!

You can just pray in your mind, I pray in a journal that I write, sometimes, I find that if I say it out loud I can truly stay focused on what I'm needing to pray about, moreso than if I just pray in my mind. But I just let my thoughts be prayers sometimes and it's not always a formal, Dear God in Heaven, and then my prayer with a closure - sometimes, it's a plea - Lord, I'm tired and I don't know what to do here. and then I keep going. Prayer is anytime you're calling on the Lord from your spirit regardless of what tactic you use. Keep it up - that's the important thing- God loves for us to talk with him and to then listen - don't just do all the talking!

Of course God can know what you are thinking - or as you say can he hear my prayer if it is just in my mind? It depends really . You surely know that you are saying in your mind ( in fact you can really hear the words clearly with your head - you hear your voice saying the things you want to tell God .
However there is something you should think about . If you are claiming something like health - prosperity - Salvation , etc. it is much more effective to voice these prayers with an audible voice . The reason being that there are at least two persons listening ( besides yourself of course ) . There is the devil or the enemy who want to see you fail . And there is the giver of all good things our God . So to claim something out loud is to let the enemy know that you are trusting in the Lord to have your prayer answered . You also have opportunity to rebuke the devil and let him know you are a child of God .
And of course all prayers should be in the name of Jesus Christ - for he is the one who opened the door for us to speak to God . The devil knows the truth and when he knows you also know the truth - he is defeated...
The devil can not read your mind - so when you prayer in your mind - God hears it , but the devil does not ...

Prayer is just talking with God. He listens to what is from your heart. You can pray just in your mind, speaking out loud, singing, or even in a Christian chat room using a keyboard.

When I am home alone, I speak to GOD verbally. I say all my prayers out loud. In church, I particiapate verbally when it is a part of the mass. Other than that, my praying is said silently there...as other people are also praying and concentrating their prayers as well.........

I usually only pray in my mind too, when I'm not in church or praying before a meal with my family. It's ok.

Yes, it is okay. I think most people, who are sincere about their prayers, pray silently. Some pray aloud, for others to hear, just to appear religious.

Yes. God knows what is on your heart. It says in the Bible to pray in secret, so I think praying in your head is fine.

Yes, because the Bible says "Pray without ceasing." To take that literally would pretty much rule out defining prayer as only that which is audible.
