I am sure you know this, but just in case you don't, if you think it is an infection DO NOT use any antibiotics you have laying around till you talk with your Dr. Certain antibiotics can be very harmful to your baby. Make an appointment in the morning. Even having an infection and not taking care of it can cause harm to the baby. And you may have one and not know for sure. My heart does go out to you, I hope you get to feeling better very soon. As if it is not bad enough you are 34 weeks pregnant during AUGUST (been there done that both times) now battling a tooth ache. Bless your heart.

A dentist does not need an x ray to determine if you have an infection or not. I had the same problem at the start of my pregnancy and was prescribed an anti biotic suitable for pregnant women to reduce swelling and fight the infection before work was done on the tooth. Orjel is only going to numb the pain it is not going to get ride of the infection and the infection will only increase without antibiotics. You cannot take the normal Ibuprofen to help the inflammation because of the pregnancy the only painkiller you can take is paracetamol. You can go to your GP for a prescription for antibiotics it does not have to be your dentist. Although i would seriously think of changing my dentist if they just left you in pain like that with no advice or offer of any treatment. Sorry to tell you but nothing is going to ease that pain except treatment with antibiotics. Good luck.

Well, after i had my wisdom teeth removed, i had a searing tooth ache. The dental office recommended using oil of clove. It was very effective, in numbing the pain. You can purchase it from a pharmacy. Put a few drops on a q tip and apply to the tooth.

You can still go to the Dentist just tell them that you are pregnant and they won't be able to do an x-ray or give you a certain type of numbing medicine, but they can still fix your tooth. It won't hurt your baby at all so no need to worry.

the last time this happened to me, I was working the holidays, so I used 4% lidocaine topically and a heat pack....it helped, but I ended up at the dentist after the long thanksgiving weekend and he pulled that tooth. It was cracked and not able to be saved.

You can get some relief with over-the-counter medications that contain benzocaine - but for any long-term relief, you're going to have to see a dentist. When you contact a dentist, be sure he/she is aware of your condition!
