The US is facing the same problem it faced in Viet Nam and the Soviets faced in Afghanistan. International politics prevents the US from destroying the insurgency at its source. The Iraqi insurgency is being funded and supplied from Syria & Iran. As long as the US fights only in Iraq they will never be able to defeat the insurgency. You have to destroy the supply souce for a guerilla movement to be defeated. The only reliable way to end the war in Iraq is to make the war bigger, a very unpleasant political situation.

It is not that we can not end the war, it is the question why won't we end the war? most people in Iraq have benfitted from the us being there others won't stand for it. It is like any other war that has been depicted. Although hard to stomach we must all be strong and hope for a truce some time soon. American will never call "Uncle", and neither will Iraq. We are both onhry and will probably continue. we have been at war with iraq for decades. It is boubtful it will end unless both parties get what each other wants. Sorry

The USA can end that conflict - All we need to do is walk away, and pull out of the country - You know, QUIT!

If we do the above, the war will continue to be directed at the United States of America. We received a kick in the butt when 911 took place. Apparently that kick wasn't hard enough because some Americans did not feel the same pain those Americans felt on the east coast. The further west you travel in this country, people only see 911 as a TV event, and no real pain!

Weapons of Mass Destruction. The bulk of this material was transported into Syria along with tons of cash. Some is still buried in the desert. WHEN THE IRAQ PROPLE FEEL ASSURED THAT THE BAD GUYS ARE GONE FOR GOOD, Someone will come out of hiding and TELL WHERE THEY ARE!

I'm very happy that we have a President with "STEEL BALLS" to take cans of "*** WHIP" to the locations where some humanoids need their asses whipped. The terrorist brought their crap here and killed our people, Now we have our people taking it back to them "SPECIAL DELIVERY." War is nasty and prople die. Those who kill in war do it for what they beleive - We believe in "FREEDOM," and that isn't cheap!

This war is going to take a long time, and many are going to die before victory is declared - And we are going too win! The free world "SHALL" win and the people of Iraq, ans other like nations will see the "LIGHTS OF FREEDOM." Tyrants fight with each other and Democracies. Democracies don't fight each other, The talk to each other until their differancies are settled.

This old Former Marine Sergeant - Before the conflict, Politicians and People can talk all the "SMACK" they want. But, when our Troops get their boots on the ground in harms way -SHUT THE "SMACK TALK" DOWN, and GET BEHIND YOUR TROOPS!

How can the USA can't end the war in Iraq?

When the war ended with Germany, it took 7-9 years to track down the remainding Nazi Insurgents, bringing them to justice or killing them trying to bring them too justice.

Ideas are what we're up against - 72 Virgins and Paradise. Listen, when your're dead, you're dead, period! End of story.

My first visit to that part of the world was in 1968, and I wanted those people to experience the freedoms we had then, and I really want them too now!

Those "Killers" are "Cowards." Don't forget that!

No, it has not gone on longer than WW II but more ordnance may have been used. The USA cannot just end the war there without first ensuring that the place is secure against both internal and external threats and we are nowhere near that condition. To do so will invite more chaos and genocidal activities.

We cant end the war because terrorists are still out there. As long as there are terrorists in Iraq the USA will have a presence in country.

you are mistaken.they can end it.but peep this .how would it look to the rest of the world if the big great super power ends the war while the world can see their gettin their rears handed to them?perception is part of the game.they cant honestly claim victory now and they and i dont see it coming in the near future.until they can claim victory, which i might add the terms of which have changed almost monthly, they wont leave.doesnt make sense.one day they will have to go home.the insurgents will claim victory.does not matter if they left today or in 10 yrs,the iraqi mujahideen will claim victory.so looks like they will continue to suffer humiliation at the hands of a lessor equipped lessor trained numerically inferior foe,who shows no sign, non, of letting them come up for air.

Wrong WW2 was from 1939 to 1945 and millions were killed in carpet bombing campaigns that people like you would call war crimes and worse. But when they blow up your kids in a pizza parlor in your town then you will call for blood won't you? Before the end Iraq has to be able to stand on it's own or would you rather we left now and let the terrorists and Islamic fascist's take over?

1) Bush's gut feeling
2) Halliburton hasn't broken $10 billion yet
3) Pipeline isn't built yet
4) Still haven't found/planted those WMDs yet
5) Still grooming the next puppet Iraqi President
6) Israel says they need more time
7) Someone in the White House has a standing bet to see whether we can reach $500 billion in missing money or reconstruction contracts first.

Because we have to extinguish each burning ember. It is better to do it right this time than to have to go back in a few years. (like Desert Storm).

Remember, this is a war on terror, not on Iraq.
