Hi!! A waterballoon fight is always a hit. I have planned many parties. I love to host and I make cakes so everyone turns to me lol. Since this party is gonna be in the backyard you have so many options. Kids that age would love an obstacle course. Just make a maze in your back yard. They could play release prisoner where kids get in pair of twos. One gets all tied up and then the others race to see who can release their partner first. There is a bazillion games you could play. Just go to google and look up birthday party games and you will be overwhelmed with all that is out there. I hope you all have a blast.

Oh a treasure hunt is a good idea. Make it a pirate themed party. Have a relay race where the kids have to dress like a pirate and then race.
My son went to a pirate party a couple weeks ago and they had a big inflatable shaped like a pirate ship. The kids loved it!

Do a Scavenger Hunt..They are so much fun.We do them all the time.I even have a game similar to this for house cleaning I do with my kids..But on one of the questions make it a secret answer and who ever gets it right get a prize..I normally have 10 questions Easy ones like find 2 leafs or find 2 people wearing earrings and get their signature. This really makes them interact and if their a little shy they will enjoy getting involved this way..Another questions would be shake hands with 2 kids you don't know very well and get their names with middle name included..Then have your secret question.Mine on one was the secret red..So they go around and find things that our red and who ever got it right got a prize..Hope this sounds fun..Enjoy your party..

Three Legged Race--Have kids pair up. Ties two legs together with a strong cloth. have them race across the yard with 'three legs' and watch as they tumble.
Balloon Volleyball--Blow up about 20 balloons, and set up a net. Have kids play balloon volleyball, this is very entertaining to kids and adults.
Potato Sack Race-- You can use black trach bags for this. Have kids divide into two equal teams, half the team on one side of the yard and the other on the other side of the yard. Have kids hop inside their potato sack to the other side, get out of it, and give it to the child next in line. They will sit on the grass. First team to be all on one side wins a small prize.
Football, Basketball, etc Games--Play The Birthday Boys favorite sport. Sure to please

Go to your local party store...like Party City. They have tons of games, and decorations that are not too expensive.
