PC has killed the national sense of humor. Humor is what gets people through tough times , like war or ecomonic depression. Its too bad.

What a fine line!

There is humour in humanity, whether it be ourselve that we are laughing at or someone else. Jokes intended maliciously are unkind.

Politically incorrect jokes are being surpressed these days in an effort to create a climate of multicultural open-mindedness. The idea is that by getting rid of "hate-humour" we willl learn to be more tolerant of immigrants thereby create a positive multicultural climate.

Being white, I cannot really get away with any politically incorrect humour. But friends of mine who are not white can use such humour without grief. It seems to be a matter of the majority (white) culture being discouraged from being disrespectful to people of minority cultures.

Now, if only enough people had the wisdom to differentiate between a good joke based on our diverse human fallacies and jokes based in nastiness.

If you get a chance, watch a Russel Peters show. He is a stand-up comedian. His humour is multi-cultural, accents and jokes, just awesome. And not hateful, just having fun with people and our nutty ways.

Yes it has killed some people's sense of humor, but not everyone's. For instance I have some black friends that are as funny as ever. Also this Jew girl I know can be a real riot.

No.

If you need to rely on insulting people to get a laugh, you don't really have a sense of humor to begin with. From what I have seen, "political correctness" is a myth anyway.

Nope. the people who are secure enough in themselves to have a sense of humor don't worry about all that PC bull. Have a good laugh...life is too short.

Absolutely. Isn't variety the spice of life? I think being P.C. kills the spontaneity of hilarity. I find the best humor offends. People like George Carlin really do it for me. I guess not caring and intentionally offending the multitude of interest-groups makes it all the more amusing.

You know it.
Nowadays, you can't say anything, without someone becoming offended, hiring a lawyer, and demanding a retraction.
To give you an example, a couple years back, a friend of mine was at the Naval yards in california, and told his girlfriend the sub he was on, was going to shoot some slugs, a term that means, cleaning the torpedo tubes by flushing them with water.
A couple days later, protestors were on the docks, protesting the treatment of slugs....go figure!

Yes, and it doesn't help their causes at all. Take me. I'm into human rights and I vote for left-wing political parties, but I crack jokes about the Holocaust. Nobody should take themselves too seriously. Most people who think they're heroic or tragic or geniuses are wrong. But even if they're right, they should still have a laugh at their own expense often.
