I have been an athlete all my life and if you feed me oatmeal or a cereal bar for breakfast, I'd faint. Seriously, I eat a full meal for breakfast to give me energy for the whole day. Rice or bread with eggs, meat (ham, fish or something), fruit juice or milk, something sweet (dessert), fruits. Really heavy energy breakfast. I don't believe in the no carb diet by the way, I need the carb for energy. I usually have a light lunch and light dinner but breakfast is always HEAVY. It is THE most important meal in the day for me.

By the way, get some exercise. It will give you more energy.

I was doing a diet at onetime and it said breakfast was the most important meal of the day you could eat 2 boiled eggs, 2 slices of bacon (not greasy), grapefruit (which I don't care for), a slice of dry toast. Who wants to fix that everyday? Well the eggs you can do several and just keep them in the fridg. the bacon too and just put the pre-cooked bacon on a paper towel and heat in the microwave so that it's not such a chore everyday then you will stick to it longer. I also heard that if you exercise in the morning that it would give you more endurance. I think I should get back to doing this myself so that I would feel better myself. I stay tired all the time. I retain lots of fluid and I think that is a lot of my problem. Good Luck. See if you can find that Mayo Clinic Diet it was a good healthy diet to follow. If I could remember where I put my copy then I would share it with you, but I have no clue. Sorry.

Oatmeal is a great breakfast---but be sure it's old-fashioned, bcz quik oats, or the bars you speak of, don't give you the same fiber or anti-cholestorol properties.

Energy...eat what the people who fast do:
Drink 3 full glasses of water with a 1/2 a banana. If you're worried about too much bulk,
Drink 3 full glasses of water with 6 or 7 DATES.
within 10 minutes of eating the dates, you'll have energy to spare!
Do this every hour! (that's why dates are better than bananas, bcz they don't pack on the weight!) Dates won't put weight on you like bananas will.
Try sprinkling a little Brewer's Yeast on your oatmeal. (get it at a vitamin/supplement or health food store. It should look like teeny little oat flakes. Tasteless...but powerful!

Multivitamen at night w/ your dinner could help. Low iron intakes could seriously affect your energy levels. Also, wake up 15mins early and do some home-excersizes. In a few days you'll be pumped w/ energy for the rest of your day.

In the morning...I don't eat much and i'm fine =) try some milk, get enough protein and fat w/ your carbs.

how about eating a heavy meal like rice and fried eggs?
you know breakfast is the most important meal of the day so you should indulge yourself in eating a lot during breakfast. this would give you a lot of energy and enthusiasm for the day.

according to my nutrition class and by the way we are doing meal planning. meal planning is the one that we health professionals do to calculate what a person needs to supply his energy needs efficiently. we need your height to calculate your total energy requirement or TER. since you did not give it. i must say that you need to eat foods that can sustain you TER. eat a complete meal every breakfast be sure it has carboohydrates, proteins and fats.
