Dark greens have an enzyme that helps stabilize cholesterol. So does Smart Balance margarine.
If you grill the foods you mention so the fat can drain off while cooking it will greatly reduce the amount of bad things you don't want in your food.
Such as a George Foreman grill or any grilling pan you can put on the burners.
Steam veggies in a cooker so you don't add fat or simmer in olive oil.

Monounsaturated fats yes - polyunsaturated and saturated fats no.
Salmon, chicken, yes. Peanut butter may be ok, but it depends on the other ingredients. If it has partially hydroginated any kind of oil - no (that is as bad or worse than polyunsaturated).
5-minute oatmeal is the best food to lower cholesterol. Any diet that lowers your intake of sugar and high glycemic foods should help to lower cholesterol.

Eat some garlic with your food (garlic butter doesn't count). Start exercising, too, because a healthy diet alone won't lower your cholesterol very much. Try to exercise for at least an hour a day.

stay away from eggs, they're high in cholesterol.
eat greens, steamed and raw that'll get that goo down in your blood stream.
also moderate amounts of red wine. but watch doing that due to red wine increases triglyceride counts.
exercise works, lots of water and juices.
grapefruit juice cuts a hole in cholesterol amounts too.
stay away from junk foods, just eating good foods and healthy living will give you more than what you need in fats and other things that will keep your blood thickened up.
it doesn't take much actually so don't worry about not having enough in your daily intake.
if you eat chicken stick with the breast and make that skinless breast. fish is good also, make sure it's untouched by fatty materials such as breadding and butter so on.
