WASHINGTON - The Senate's immigration proposal would cost $49 billion over the next five years and $127 billion over the next decade, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

The majority of the costs would be for increased enforcement, such as hiring more Border Patrol officers and building more detention facilities.

The legislation would offer a chance at citizenship for millions of immigrants. Spending on government benefits programs, including refundable tax credits for the working poor, would rise by $16 billion for the years 2007-11, and by $48 billion over the decade, the CBO said in a report released over the weekend.

Legalization of now illegal immigrants would increase spending on Social Security and Medicare benefits by $10.5 billion over the next 10 years, the CBO said. Eligibility by many of them for refundable earned income tax credits aimed at helping low-income families would cost another $24.5 billion.

Well the truth is that eight million illegals pay Social Security, Medicare, and income taxes. Aliens who are not self-employed have Social Security and Medicare taxes automatically withheld from their paychecks. Since undocumented workers have only fake numbers, they'll never be able to collect the benefits these taxes are meant to pay for. Last year, the revenues from these fake numbers — that the Social Security administration stashes in the “earnings suspense file” — added up to 10 percent of the Social Security surplus. The file is growing, on average, by more than $50 billion a year.

You talk about having to 'foot the bill for their medical care and education' when in reality, the 1996 welfare reform bill disqualified illegal immigrants from nearly all means-tested government programs including food stamps, housing assistance, Medicaid and Medicare-funded hospitalization. The only services that illegals can still get are emergency medical care and K-12 education.

Earlier this year, Congress passed a law that requires everyone who gets Medicaid — the government-funded health care program for the poor — to offer proof of U.S. citizenship so we can avoid "theft of these benefits by illegal aliens".

The simple fact is that more people who are born in this country are using these programs and not putting anything back into them taxwise than illegals are.

I also just love the fact that you can sit for over an hour and ad to this over and over. Hmm seems to me someone isn't contributing either!!!! You are a hypocrite aren't you?
Maybe we shouldn't be paying extra taxes for people like you.

Oh and now I learn that you have been in jail which is another way that you are sucking money out of our country. Hmmm - a document forging ex con. Well it's nice to know what kind of person has posted this question.
Before anyone sides with you they need to know the type of person there are siding with.

This question clearly, does not apply to me.

But, even though they say yes-- I don't believe it.

Lets do a quick evaluation...

From the State of Texas view:

In Tejas, taxes are up 8.5%. And considering 85% of the nation is opposing Amnesty, if they foot the bill, that 15% of pros would have to cover the illegals...

So, lets do some math!!! There are about 19 million in Texas, and I'd say probably throughout the entire state, 50% of those are against it... Because Texas is loaded with illegals, and hispanics that want them here.

So... they'd be paying double in taxes.. about 17%, while the opposers, paid 1/2, around 4.5%...

Hell I'm for it!! But, lets look at it from a national figure. The average citizen pays 9.2% according to the U.S. Census of 04, and taxes have gone up. So the final figure will be a little more than our answer.

85% divided by 15% is 5.66667... So, pros' will be paying that amount times 9.2%. So, they'd now be paying, approximately, 52.13333% of taxes. But that figure is low.. so probably about 54% plus or minus 2%. Wow... and now that 85% of anti-illegals are now paying, 4.84782%...Plus or minus 2%!!!

HOLY MOSES!!! I'm for it!!!

--Rob.... :)~

Hell, let them foot it!!

I am on your side buddy. I like the military idea too. The health care sytem is already going to s#*#. Lets add some more stuff to it by providing for those who have never contributed a tax ever. Sounds like a wise idea right. Bush needs to get a grip. How about we take his health care and social security away. He does not have to worry about any of that for the rest of his privelaged life. The extra taxes should come out of his salary. Does he even pay taxes?

2006-08-21 17:02:18 · answer #4 · answered by melkhel 3 · 1 0

Let who stay? And why not be more specific as to where you're talking about, are you an American? Last time I heard, the health system in the US was privatized so exactly who's medical care would you be paying for? If you're talking about illegal aliens, then yes... I think it's important to have control over who is permitted to enter the country and stay, but at the same time do you want to take over their slave labour? A good percentage of illegal aliens are very hardworking and get paid peanuts for their work, all for the chance at giving their families a better life. I think the focus should be on keeping criminals out, not hardworking decent people who are contributing to American society.

I agree and then some you have left out so much more that is not fair. for instance I know for a fact because I use to work for her . a women got a habitat for humanity house she was single with 2 kids she pays 300.0 a month for rent well as soon as the house was built everyone moved in and they all make 30-50thousand a year. how is this fair.

I used to be a property manager and if I tried to rent to an illegal knowing his info was false but feeling like everyone needed a fair shake I would rent it, next thing I know they have moved in 12 to 15 people and destroyed the apartment and put my job and stake because they never want to do things the legal way. I have called police on illegals that were driving recklessy in parking lot and cops don't do anything because they say the drivers license is not good and they don't know there real names anyway and cops just leave. Through my experience dealing with this on a regular basis I decided that I would prefer to just quit being nice to them until they decided to live by the laws of our country just like we have to. My daugher in law worked for wic and she said that they didn't even have to show anything to just get free stuff for the kids. I don't mind helping children but I do mind helping people who don't respect the country they live in and dont' have to because the government don't make them. I guess I will quit rattling on but I have watched them pull out their privates and pee in front of children and think its funny. You can't even evict for the right reasons without them getting an attorney to sue you for discrimanation(which they did to me). I could prove different so it was dropped but dont' take advantage of a free attorneys to sue me for doing things the legal way and they are here without the legal consent. No Respect All I ask is just to have to abide by the same rules and laws we do and not be able to change your name constantly to get what you need and of course they can go to banks for loans for cars because they all have clean credit because the social is bogus. Never mind me, just dealt with it for a few years and got sick of it.

I pay for myself, and whats mine ! that includes my family and what they need to have and desire to have. Heres an idea illegals, If this is what you want, get legal and pay for it, Just like I have AND the mass majority of TRUE AMERICANS have. I work my *** off well over 40 hours aweek, day in and day out, only to see a third of my wages go to support people like you. Don't get me wrong....there are people that need to have what this country has to offer, but you need to be a part of this country. Just jumping over a fence, climbing thru a tunnel. or swimming across a river don't quite get it. Get legal, assimilate and truly appreciate what this country has to offer and what it stands for.

I'm still waiting for them to start a fund to cover the cost of everything. I haven't seen that yet. I don't see why these 'generous to the fault hearts' don't sell all their belongings and show us how sweet they are. I think they could still do it. I hope they start it soon before some go home.
