What is bible "shite?" Have you stepped in any of it lately? LOL
Really though, anyone with a very high IQ could use logic, not scriptures. Anyone who knows anything about science knows that any theory (like for instance -- Mr. Darwins...) is just a hypothesis - which means an educated guess- until they can prove it. There haven't been any people or life, other than crawfish, crawling out of my ditch, no news articles with man evolving in a cage at the zoo... or anyone just "banging" a new earth into existance lately either, just so you know...
If anyone can think for themselves, instead of what comes out of a book (another person's guess,) then they could probably see how uniquely that this whole thing was designed, and planned out. Think about your own body, and the miracle of all your systems keeping you alive, and typing on here. Think outside you, to the earth, and all its amazing cycles, (like rain, clouds, rivers...) to the trees and how all of the life of all the trees that will ever be, are inside the trees that are here now. Think like an artist, look at a flower petal, a butterfly, a raindrop...Think like a scientist, and figure out why there is a magnetic north and south pole, and why we keep spinning without falling out into space or the sun. Why is there gravity? Where did it come from? Come on, before the white man brought their Bibles over here, the Native Americans still knew that there was a "Great Spirit," and honored Him. Even before I was old enough to read the Bible, I felt that there was Something Awesome that was a lot bigger than me, who was in charge of this big beautifully designed ball. (A design means that there is a designer. That designer is Jehovah - and He is God.)

I can see where it would appear to be pointless, kind of like throwing your pearls before the swine - but, if that person is under conviction from the Holy Spirit, it might be the very time they actually understand the scripture that is being quoted. As well, most Christians sincerely believe that they have been commissioned to spread the gospel, and that means you share the word - knowing that some will fall on deaf ears, some will soak in a little, and then get lost, and some will actually fall in and start growing some day. So, yes we think for ourselves, and we've come to the conclusion that why use our own words when scripture says it best?

I am brainwashed.
If you saw inside my brain, you would know why it needed washing.
This verse (yes I am going to use a verse) tells me what to think.
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (New International Version)
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
I take every thought and make it obedient to Christ.
If I think something is one way (for whatever reason: life, experience, they way I grew up) and I read in the Bible the same something is really a different way, I don't argue with the Bible based on my own knowledge, I just decide to get rid of whatever is contrary to the Bible and replace it with what the Bible says is true.
That's brain washing if I ever heard it.
Someday I'm going to know what a pure mind is like.
I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha ha! Evildoer! I will show you the might of my Eternal God and the Endless Intelligence that I am privy to! I shall show you just how smart I am by reciting his Holy Scripture ad nauseum until you buckle under the Incredible Might of my Circular Logic and fall in line!
Only then will you reach True Understanding and become One with the Christian Hive Mind! Don't you realize that every Evil Rebuttal you put forth only strengthens Satan's grip on you? Why can't you see how Disgusting you are unless you agree with me? It's so much easier to be given The Answers to everything! Come, Brother, and rejoice in Holy Song and Kool-Aid!

Kingmojo419,You appear so brainwashed that you can't think, worse, you mind is in total lock down, however I will have compassion for you and give you a very brief explantion. The word of God never goes to waste it lives forever,if it falls in unfertile minds then the word itself begins to prepare the mind to better recieve the word of GOD the next time. You are unruly by choice, but you are not an athiest, you only call yourself that because in your heart of hearts you know GOD is in you! LOVE whistle Britches PS there are none so blind as those who will not see.

A lot of atheists will actually use quotes from the Bible to proove it wrong, so it only makes sense to defend the Word of the Lord (the Bible) with equally powerful quotes that proove it right. We wouldn't have to defend our beliefs if we weren't attacked and mocked so often. If you choose to believe the Bible is a "pile of crap", that's your choice, but you shouldn't treat your view as truth to those of us who believe in the Lord. I can accept you for who you are, and I would hope that you would do the same for me. My beliefs are part of me. My life is a reflection of my love for the Lord. It makes me who I am. I'm sure your beliefs make you who you are.

I am a Christian, and logically tend to agree with you. To me it makes no sense to quote as authority, a source which someone does not consider authoritarian. I tend to think logically, and attempt to lead a non-believer from where he/she is (an agreed-upon common ground) toward a discussion where the merits of God/theism can be presented/debated. I want to present persuasive arguments based upon this common ground, in attempt to appeal logically to the person.
There is merit in this. However, all Christians are wary of such an approach. We believe that the message of Jesus, his love for humanity, and His desire to be united with us is the only message/argument with the power to save. We, as Christians, are always cognizant that our arguments, ability, and personality are not the heart of the message. A non-believer will only be won over by a realization of what God has done for him or her, the extent of God's love for him or her, and the lengths to which God was willing to go to make that person his son or daughter.

Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. :o)
You never know when the Holy Spirit might use the word of God to bring conviction upon a person. Many Christians can testify about how they were lost in their sins but they heard a sermon or something like that and suddenly they knew that they needed God in their life.

Conviction of thier Spirit, since an atheist if they are truely that, don't belive there is a God, they would also not care what others believe, since there is nothing else to life but today and yesterday, and no promise of tomorrow.
so in general most people who claim to be an atheist on here and are anti Christian are not reeally atheist but more of a pagan who wants to attack Christian, since a true Atheist would have no concern if a person beleived or if they did not beleive

Seems like you've been meeting the wrong christians.
Truly faithfull ones don't want to "impose" their religion onto others.
I know a ton, who couldn't care less that I don't share their beliefs.
Yahoo answers is a bad place for the Christian P.R, it's basically a constant warfield for science vs. faith.
