It could be a pinched nerve or even somethiing more serious. Call the doctor first thing in the morning. Usually ice helps for the first 24 hours, then heat. Take Ibuprofen (if you can tolerate it) around the clock until you see the doctor. Good luck and hope you feel better.

Sounds like you pulled a muscle in your neck. You do need to go to a doctor though.
I would try the warm compresses.
I bet it hurts about 8-10 inches on your back side below your scalp line and about 3-5 inches to the right of your spine, am I correct?

I did the same thing in the pool 2 weeks ago playing with the kids. I was acting silly and pulled my neck muscles. I took Motrin and a heating pad. It took 5 days before mine got better. I would take something and keep on moving my head to work it out. If it isn't any better in a week I would go to the doctor. I know that hurts!

It sounds like you pulled a muscle or strained a ligament. I suggest ibuprofen and taking it easy. I did this once many years ago when I was swimming and it was a couple of months before I could move everything without pain but it did go completely away.
Good luck and take care.

Get a soft brace and try to immobilize your neck for a few days. Take regular doses of Ibuprofen to help lessen the pain and inflammation.

you can try first hot and then cold, take a Tylenol pm and try A535
or some other muscle ointment. But if the problems persists you might see the doctor and he can give you a brace.

take whatever you take for a headache - ibuprofen is best. Then lie down flat on your back without a pillow, and you may snap back into place. otherwise see a doctor - doctor visit doesn't cost as much as being crippled.

From now on, just try to tell jokes that are funny from the words, not acting them out. And everyone, stop telling people to see the doctor- do you think they couldn't figure that out?

If the problems continue to persist or worsen, I would recommend going to your family doctor. You may have sustained an injury worse than whiplash.

See your primary care physician and he/she will direct you from there. You could have pulled a muscle or caused nerve damage. Unless someone evaluates your condition it will be hard to diagnose.
