my cousin is 10 years older than me and i would like to hang out with her just once because i really look up to her. i don't want to wait for an oppurtunity such as a new store that we both like opening. i just don't know how to ask her because i think if i just came out and said it she might feel as though she had to go with me and i understand that her being 23 and me being 13 is not the most enjoyable time for her. at least i don't think it would be. i got some good advice last time i asked, so i thought i'd collect some more answers. thanks for any help

I think the best thing you can do is tell her exactly what you wrote. Be frank, she'll understand and will sure be happy you look up to her. Tell her that at 13 you'd like to talk to someone who is older and more experienced but that could understand and help you with your teen life.
You understand that her being 23 and you 13 makes it impossible that for now you are her best friend. This doesn't mean she can't like you, it's even possible that you are or come to be one of the persons she likes most. But, of course, she needs friends her age who she can talk with about things that for now you can't just because you're 13. I mean. maybe she's in college, maybe she has a job and you know she needs to tak about such things with friends her age. So, don't get hurt when she refuses to go out with you because she wants to go out with older people.
I've noticed that many adults like the company of teens sometimes. Many like to help us with this somewhat complicated phase of our lives ( I say u cause I'm 13 too). When you go out with her, try to be mature, try to control our teen impulse to think we kmow everything. Give your true opinioins when you tak with her, but listen to her, even if you don't agree.
I'm sure you guys can havew a good time together. I'm sure you're a mature 13 yo girl, I can tell this from your answer to my question about a small problem with my mom invbolving bras.

I'd say just ask her. Tell her that you look up to her and would like to hang out with her once in a while. She may be flattered that you feel that way- I would. Asking for what you want may feel like an eomtional risk....after all , she may say no and your feeligns may be hurt. If you ask for what you want, you may or may not get it....but if you don's ask, you certainly won't get what you want! And, the more often you ask people for what you want, the easier it will be the next time- and sooner of later someone will say "yes"!

don't put off asking,time slips away very quickly.
Chances your cuz likes you just as well.
Usually I start an awkward conversation off with"there's something I need to ask"I find that the most direct aproach works best,so try saying "hey if you aren't busy,maybe you and I could hang out for a day?"
Make sure you have specific information ready,when you want to hang,where you want to go,what you want to do.

i know how u feel my cuzin in 11 years older thn me and it takes for ever for me to make plans with her.. btw i'm 13 too... and when and if i ever DO go anywhere she's always on her phone ... so anyway.... write her a letter or an email... and if that doesn't work .... text her.... thats what i do when i need more tampons... i'm too embaressed to aslk my mom for that
