Some quick tricks to get you started:
Switch from pop to water (flavored sugar-free waters have kept me going as I lost weight!)

Weigh your food to find out what serving sizes are normal. Many food labels contain normal serving sizes, although some of them are a little on the large size. Then, eat a little less than the normal serving size to lose weight.
Make healthy choices in restaurants, and share your meals with a friend. Restaurant serving sizes are notorious for being two to three times larger than a normal serving size.

I know tthat if you follow the South Beach Diet that in the first two weeks, you can lose up to 12 lbs and then after that it is usually about 1 or 2 lbsevery week.
The South Beach Diet is pretty restricted in the very beginning but you begin to add carbs later on in the diet. If you get the book and read it and follow what it says, you WILL lose the weight and be healthy.

Follow the healthy food pyramid and moderate exercise atleast 30mins a day do something fun like basketball surfing bmx riding something that you are able to stick to.
There is no quick fixes that last look for a manageable long term approach. You should NOT lose more that 2 or 3pounds per week and not comsume less than 1200 calories!

dont fast just eat well run every morning and lift weights.
Also it is unhealthy to lose a lot of weight so fast

Eat less and move more. Though, there is no physically healthy way to lose 25 pounds by the end of August. A weightloss like that would take upwards of 12 weeks.
