I was just sitting meditating on my truth and being when it dawned on me.I thought about this before, but never really gave it true thought to the credibility it deserves. Is it satan that lies or is it the ones who follow him knowlingly and not knowingly?Willingly and not willingly?I mean really think about it.And don't get me wrong because I am terrified of the true satan bc I know he exists. But when did he really lie.Decieving is one thing, but lying is another. He actually "tells" the truth(not his followers), but we are trained not to trust him.And please don't think I am saying I trust him because I don't, but did he lie?I know he decieves, but what about lying.Maybe he is just that cunning?

I live in a city about 50 miles north of NYC.I see this sh*t everyday. My city is on the top five for crime rates in the country because of our population to crime rate.Live a city life and then you will see how many people think about sh*t like this while most are off in La La land baking cookies with mom.Even jesus had his run in with satan.I think about what exists. And I am far from a christian.Maybe it can not be seen through that belief. But christians are the biggest sinners to me.Now what do you think about my question?

Stop looking in your websters dictionary to try and see if lying is the same as decieving.Like lying and embelishing. They are not the same.Totaly different degrees.Drrighteous got the point. Now next time you and your friend want to steal some bubble gum from the corner store, think about "who you with"?LITERALY

Does it matter? Lying is just another form of deceit? His goal is to make you do the opposite of what God desires. How he does it is pretty irrelevant really. It's just a means to an end with him. By the way, he did lie when he told Eve that you will not surely die(in the garden). He also deceived her, but is that any less wrong? You can say, "well, I didn't lie, I just stretched the truth a little." OK, so you didn't lie, but if the person you deceived thinks something other than the truth, what's the difference? Oh yes, he is that cunning.

OK, let me start by saying that even God knows that Satan exists. Where do you think all of the evil in this world comes from? Second, Whether Satan lies or just deceives (yes, you can be deceived without actually being lied to.) He causes us all to sin, especially when we are not strong in our faith. He turns us away from God. Trust in The Lord Jesus. If you have faith as small as a mustard seed you can move mountains. And you can stand against Satan.

Jesus said to someone in Joh 8:44
"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."
Satan is a deceiver, a tricker. He knows the word better than anyone on earth and tells half truths to trick us. He puts forth seeds of doubtr and pride in us to make us think for ourselves that we know more or different that what the word of God teaches.
The verses below show how cunning satan is. He did tell the word, but with it, he added a dare or challenge to Jesus which opposed the word.
Mat 4:5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
Mat 4:6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in [their] hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Mat 4:7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

I just double checked, and as I suspected, "deceive" is "to lie"
Satan is called the Father of lies and yes, he lies. he tells us Jesus is not the saviour, he tells us we are guilty, he tells us we are worthless.....
my question to you id, what are you afraid of? Satan is a coward. If you believe in Satan, then it follows that you are a believer in Jesus - so claim Jesus as your saviour and ask Him to protect you from Satan - as your confidence grows, you will be able to claim victory over Satan and send him packing in the name of Jesus.
People who follow him willingly are also liars. People who practice lying and deceiving may be unknowingly following him (and yes, there are many people who claim to be Christians that are unknowingly following the lies of Satan - that's what discernment is all about, and we are called to confront them)
hope this helps - good question and there's really alot more too it than can be written here.

This is a very interesting question and worth the time to wonder. We often talk about God and his messages, but hardly discuss satan. Yes, I think he truely exist and with us all the times. Does he lies, I dont know. Since he isnt human, we cant judge him as a human. Certainly, he gave advise all the time, just like God, but it always against God's wish. If we listen and follow his advise, we will screw.

Intresting Q. But, anyway, sometimes a half truth does not make a truth. I fear more the devil in ourselves.
I'm not sure about the image we have of a red evil with horns, hoofs and wings. But we like to deceive ourselves doing whatever we want to others because we think we deserve something, want something, want to get away with something, whatever. We don't want responsability of our actions, so sometimes it's easier to say 'the devil made me do it', rather than face our actions.
Intentional deceiving and lying is the same, it has the same intent.

Jesus told us of some of the characteristics of Satan. Christ said he was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him, and that when he speaks he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44).

Yeah Satan gives everybody false hope. He makes you believe that one thing is really going to be okay, but then gives you something else bad. He does dec=ieve very well, but it is clear that he is lying to his followers. Look at like this, I tell you can have anything in this world and you could, but then i tell you everything is going to be fine, but it actually isnt. That is lying and decieving. That is exactly how he operates.

Satan is the Master deceiver - he even tested Jesus - but Satan can be beaten by simply reading and studying the Bible and following Gods word.

Hmmm....interesting....in truth, I don't think satan has to lie if you don't believe what he is saying is the truth. Granted, I've never had a conversation with him, but I'd think he wouldn't necessarily have to lie. His sin was that of Pride, not lies, which I think belongs to Bush :). As for those who lie, their lies simply take them further from the path of God, and therein lies satan.
