Condoms with spermicide are pretty safe but occasionally they can break. They are tested in the factory where they are made before they are packaged but I know from experience that things can happen with condoms especially if you have rough sex. They can slip off and you can actually have one come off inside of you.

If you don't like the idea of taking the birth control pill, there are other options now that are very reliable. You can get progesterone shots four times per year and they are just as reliable as the pill. Eventually when you get the shots enough you stop having periods too. You could also be fitted for a diaphragm in addition to using a condom. They now make female condoms as well....The main thing is to make sure that the person who is holding onto the condoms is not storing them in their wallets/pockets (a common mistake) because that exposes them to too much heat. They should be kept in a cool, dry place.

I recommend the shots over the pills only because the pills you have to remember to take every day and if you miss one you can get pregnant. Plus you are supposed to take it around the same time everyday. Antibiotics and other drugs can reduce its' effectiveness against preventing pregnancy.

The ortho-evra patch is no good and it has alot of controversy surrounding it right now. I tried it briefly before and I found that it was trying to peel up on the edges like a band-aid and didn't stick as well as it claimed...

Even IUD's are made out of better materials now then they were before so they are safer than they were back in the 60's....

Hope this helped....Good luck...

Condom is safe 99%.
1% can't say.
Regarding pills, you have to take the advise or help of a Gynaecologist.

well, a condom will not 100% prevent pregnancy.

there are all kinds of people who have gotten pregnant when the condom failed.

So, to be extra careful, use a spermacide. Get condoms with Nonoxinol 9, or you can get lube or foam that has the same spermacide.

Better safe then sorry!

Edited to add... how the hell can you get it on, if you unroll it, and blow it up first???

Not to mention that is a TOTAL mood killer. Don't take that advice. Just get condoms with spermacide.

Yes it is safe in case your boyfriend is using it before the penetration. Many men use it before the feeling of ejaculation. It is not safe in that case. As a a very small drop of semen is enough to cause pregnancy. So, be careful

yes, a condom is safe to use. The way to see if it has a whole in it you should blow up the condum first then hold the top so the air dosent go out and wait to see if it well deflate, then youll know if it is safe to use the condum or not.

i think you should take the pills, too.....i've only used the condoms before and they do break......it's better to be protected on both sides. u don't like taking any types of pills period or does birth control pills make you feel sick? if it's the pills making you feel sick, take them before you go to bed that way you'll sleep off the sick feeling. i hope this helps.

depends on the brand, dear
some condoms are better than others ,but still condoms don't always guarantee 100% safety
so it is advisable that you take some other measures also
