Here's one. If the majority of dust is made of dead skin cells (as is believed) then what was the dust used to make Adam? Is it really just sand or dirt? But why do humans return to "dust" when they die then? If this is just a metaphor or literary license, then how do you know which parts of the bible you should take literally and which are just poetic?

You don't seriously think that God used all the dust to create Adam from do you? I mean every time you make-off the top of my head here-pancakes, do you use all the pancake mix in the world?
Stupid question if you ask me.

It is a good question...
Because man didn't come from modern-day dust. Man and modern-day dust both came from a common dust-ancestor.

God made Adam from the dirt of the world. Which He created. It's all to show a cycle of the origin of birth coming from God.

He didn't use all the dirt in the world to make Adam or whoever after him. People start making babies, and then once your body deteriorates, it becomes dust again. So more dust in the world.
But don't take my word for it...

This is one subject that I don't spend a lot of time meditating upon or studying as there are bigger issues for me.....
I'm having to use, somewhat "blind faith" when it comes to science.... I will be more than willing to let these brilliant scientists answer all these questions for me and I choose to have some confidence in their vast knowledge base. That frees my mind up do what I do best, and it is definitely not science.....
The moral of the story is that we all have a crucial piece to bring to the puzzle, if people can just freakin' get along.....

Genesis 3:19 (KJV)
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Pretty simple to figure out. The dust that is taken is then returned. Hey clean that table top!
