1) You have to be a registered student attending at least half time I believe (6 credit hours)
2) If you are applying for a subsidized Stafford Loan, you have to show financial need. However, you DONT have to have financial need to apply for an UNsubsidized loan.
3) Fill out the FAFSA (decided to include that, but it's pretty obvious..duh)
4) Go to your school's financial aid office and do a lender selection application.
5) Sign a promissory note. (This is what they send you from the bank you are getting the loan from and explains all the terms of the loan)
6) Not be in default on any other student loans, or in default with the school. Also, no forced scholastic withdrawl.
7) Also, if you are applying for a loan through the FAFSA, I don't think you can have any felony drug convictions either, and if you are a male, you have to register with selective service.

A willingness to go to school... and a willingness to bend over, grab your ankles, and take it up the *** from some big bank for 10-30 years after you graduate.
