look into polymetrics. its a series of workouts that target your fast twitching leg muscles that would allow u to accelerate your body upwards off the ground. there is stuff like box jumps and calf raises. another thing that i found is that losing body fat helps too. during volleyball season i would eat extremely healthy. i gave up all sugar, didnt eat fast food or junk food, anything obviously fattening like mayo, butter, etc, and switched to complex carbs like wheat bread and oats and ate lean cuts of meat. i had a lot more energy and my body looked better too.

Our coach is trying to get our JV team to jump higher b/c we're mostly short and I'm one of them. I'm strong in my upper body but can't jump. So everyday she takes this string and starts it out on the floor and makes it gradually rise. She makes us jump back and forth across it until the end. Then we go to the steps outside the gym and run up and down them for a few minutes. Then we go to the benches in the locker room and do step ups for 10 seconds on and 10 seconds off for a couple of times. Then we do that on boxes that are a little bit higher than the benches. Finally we jump up on 2 feet onto the benches. We've had practice for about 2 weeks and I can already tell a bit of a difference.

well the best work out would be Squats. stand with feet shoulder with and go straight down so your knees are a little less the 90 degrees and try not to stick out your butt. if this is too easy try doubling your number of reps. and also hold a weight plate in your arms to make it more challenging....Good luck! also jump so the middle of your hand is at the top of the net and jump consistently about 50 times... work on approach.....o yea keep your back straight too!!!!

If you want to increase your vertical, search for Air Alert III on the internet. It is a jump program designed for athletics. I know lots of people who improved their vert a ton with it.
