I get an error msg and then it refreshes my screen and then restarts my taskbar and then my Norton Internet Security icon does not reappear.

Sounds like you have a conflict between Norton and Ad-aware. I have to disable my Webroot Spysweeper for my Ad-Aware to complete a scan,but my Ad-Aware and Norton Corporate edition get along fine. If I had to choose, I would keep the Ad-Aware with Ad-Watch......Does the Norton icon come back when you click display all, mine stays hid til I click to display all.

Reboot in safe mode
1) Reboot

3) Remove the icon
Then reboot
