You know it better, since you are an artist:
Art promotes god, through the orders of the clergy!
Further, the pieces of art have been limited to religious orders. So, Greek art, expressed in painting, statues, etc., were freely and magnificently presenting human body and beauty, while after the conservatism of Romans and Judaic religions (including Judaism, Christianity and Islam) beauty has been prohibited!

I'll contrast some for you.
I don't think there is a connectin between art and God, at all. In fact, I doubt the word art or artist even exists in the Bible.
Most artists are dealing with internal conflict, exploring self-honesty and trying to express themselves thru an artistic process.
I suppose it might be possible to get "into a zone" that might feel like God is taking a part, but really, the choices are still yours so I don't think that happens via a spiritual event.
Bless!
The link below is a keyword search for "artist" in the KJV bible, no luck. If you search "art", you get a lot of "where art thous?", lol.

It would depend on the artist and if the artist believed in God.
For me, the infinite creator is in all that I do, especially when I am painting or creating any type of artwork. It is one of the easiest ways to connect with God, because you are working together to create something beautiful. Divine inspiration and tapping into the universal consciousness seem to be the ways most artists get the ideas that they create and the help needed to put their ideas into physical creation.

A common belief among all faiths is that God is creative. Perhaps the greatest way we are made "in God's image" is that we are given the ability to create for its own sake... art (of many forms).
So, yes, in my opinion there is a tremendous connection between art and God. Creativity is God's gift of a part of Himself to us.

I believe God gives some people the creative gift to paint, and some of those people give honor back to God by developing those gifts.

Sure-- it all depends on what you allow yourself to be influenced by.
I have several good friends who are very devout in their belief in God and their art reflects that in terms of subject matter.
Also, Thomas Kinkaide signs all his work with a fish (Jesus) and said in an interview that he is trying to paint the love of God as he views it in each painting.
