Acceptance is the first step to a cure. Its great that you have realized that you have a problem - that itself is on your way to getting healed. You need to talk to a councillor or psychologist or psychiatrist for advice and constant support to cope and overcome the anorexia and bulimia. It is a psychological disease - and only immense will power on your part will help you overcome it. You should probably have someone you can talk to about it, and who will encourage you to eat and remind you of the problems it can cause and advise you on eating healthy, which is why a psychologist or dietician would be best. Family are usually in denial - they dont want to believe that their all-too-perfect child/girlfriend/etc can have a problem - they put you up on a pedestal and have all these great expectations - and that itself is a risk factor for a person developing anorexia or bulimia. Please do find a councillor ore psdychologist you can talk to. Your doc will probably be able to reccomend someone good in your area.
Yes, you do get falling hair and facial edema (swelling) with anorexia and bulimia - and it can lead to very severe complications like dehydration and renal failure - not to mention the fact that as you get more malnourished your hands and legs start looking thinner while your abdomen and face bloats - and the only way to get back a nice figure is to start eating!!

Listen to the nurse's answer. I have a friend that was once like you. She got to the point where if she even forced a bite of food down it would come back up on its own. She nearly died because people didn't understand the mental anguish that she was experiencing and what she was doing was a cry for help. There is someone in your life that you can trust to take you to the hospital for help. Don't worry about the money. Your life is priceless.

Tell your parents that you are absolutely NOT joking around!!! Anorexia and Bulimia are dangerous things, and you need to go to a clinic specifically for anorexic and bulimic persons, or at least see a doctor. How much hair is falling out? If it's little strands at a time, its nothing to worry about. You are naturally supposed to lose over 180 strands of hair a day. It's natural. Also, yes, excessive detachment of hair from scalp is a sign of unhealthiness. Point out to your parents that this is a serious matter, and they need to trust you, for your life's sake! I am not trying to scare you, but if you are extremely thin, it's not good. See a counselor to help you. Insist to your parents that you NEED to get to a clinic FAST. God bless you.

Hair loss is not a sign of cancer. Chemotherapy causes the hair loss.
You are most likely losing your hair because of your illness. I'm guessing you've got discolored fingers, cracking skin, and some feminine problems.
If your loved ones aren't listening to you, see the school nurse or psychologist. If they don't help, keep after them. In the meantime, try eating very small amounts of food at a time to give yourself the calories you need to function and try Yahoo! chat for support.

I can't believe your parents haven't taken you to a doctor. You are 16 years old so why don't you see a doctor on your own and I'm sure the doctor will tell your parents that Yes! you are sick and need help desparately.
As far as losing your hair, if you are not eating properly you are probably lacking protein and this leads to hair loss. PLEASE see a doctor as soon as possible!
Good luck to you, June

u should go to a doctor....because bulimia is not a good thing...may be ur hair falls because of some other problem.... cancer is not the only answer for that .....may be its just the reaction of some medicine u r using.....
my hair falls too.....i think because its weak ....
try to eat healthy foods....like vegetables, eggs are good for your hair ...i guess...and eat fish ....
if u cant eat much at the same time then eat little but after every two hours or so....i hope it will work...
but DO GO TO A DOCTOR .....he will tell exactly what is going on....

When you lose a lot of weight your hair falls out. Your body is weak and your bones hurt. Take yourself to the nearest hospital and ask for help there. They will get you on the right track and you will be able to talk to someone and get your life slowly back to order. If your parents don't care talk to a close relation.
Good Luck

Hair loss is a symptom of anorexia. You need to see a doctor ASAP. If your parents won't take you, go on your own or with your boyfriend. You must do something about this now.

you're so remarkable...i'm a woman, and that i admire a guy who opens doors...etc. etc. seems right this moment many men are not sure in the event that they could do all this, some women human beings have additudes..I even have heard women human beings say i can try this myself! Sorry women human beings libbers, I on no account would be one...i admire a guy to handle me like a woman...and smash me. So i'm indignant via the ladies people who've made it so complicated on the lads who're treating them no longer in basic terms remarkable...yet with admire! This replaced right into a sturdy Q.

your family is on denial. look, when you stop having normal eating habits your stomach reacts differently to it. like when I drink milk I feel sick but it's because I don't drink it at all. when you eat, try to keep the food down even if you feel like it's goona come out at anytime. your hair is falling out because when you are not getting all the nutrients your body needs it starts sucking all the stuff from your mucles, bones and stuff. you can really fight this sickness, it's not that hard just believe in yourself and don't let yourself go down. you can do it! and I really recomend you go to a doctor now
