Though technically Bourbon can be made anywhere, Kentucky is the only state allowed to put its name on the bottle. And as Kentucky distillers are quick to point out, Bourbon is not Bourbon unless the label says so.
As with French-appellation wines, there are strict laws governing just what a Bourbon must be to be labeled as such. For example, at least 51 percent of the grain used in making the whiskey must be corn (most distillers use 65 to 75 percent corn).
Here's a list of Bourbon distilleries:

About 20 years ago all Bourbon was a product of Kentucky, but this is not the case anymore.

A Bourbon is a whiskey made from a fermented mash of corn, malt and rye. It must contain at least 51% corn to be considered a Bourbon. The name Bourbon comes from Bourbon County in Northeast Kentucky.

No, I think Bourbon Whiskey is only produced in Kentucky. Someone above said there are Tennessee bourbon's but that's news to me. Scotch whiskey, Irish, Canadian etc... and other types are out there but I always thought Bourbon was only from Kentucky.

bourbon is a bourbon on the way it is made. go to wikipedia for the exact percentages. there are only a few differences in how it is made that differs it from scotch whisky. it can be made anywhere in the us, however there are only a few outside of kentucky. because of this a lot of people think that they are made only in kentucky. by the way, for the person that named jack daniels as a bourbon. it is a tennessee whisky, which is different.

Bourbon is specific to the Bourbon county of Kentucky. Anything else made outside of that county is just plain 'ol kentucky wishkey. Anything made outside of the state is just whiskey.

Bourbon is generally a term that is used in the U.S., outside of the U.S., they would be whiskey's depending on the percentages of the types of grains used to make them.
Technically, yes, bourbon can be legally made in any state of the United Staes.

All Bourbon's are whiskey but not all whiskey's are Bourbon. It is because of where they are distilled ,I think it is the name of the county.
Now think about Scotch
