Eventually it would get boring wouldn't it? I mean eternity never ends, and if hell is repetition, then eternity in and of itself would be its own hell. Any thoughts?

Hell, the way heaven is described by Christians, it would get boring within the first day. No sex? No music? Just endless worshiping for the rest of eternity? If I wern't already dead, I'd shoot myself.

um, yeah. ofcourse eternity is a really, really long time. eternity does mean forever, after all. in terms of linking it to hell, it's in a way true, but at the same time you dont know if you'll be living in hell forever, you dont even know if there's such thing as hell. in the same manner, how would you know heaven exists? you wouldnt know, you'll just assume it does because it's the way you've bn taught. just because you are living in a world where you're living for an eternity doesnt necessarily mean hell for you because you have a chance to do whatever you want in life. some people say that when you die, your soul still exists and lives on, and by hearing that gives you more of an opportunity to start living life now to the fullest instead of dreaming and thinking about it. it gives you a chance to live.

We all face eternity. The only question is whether it will be pleasurable or painful. Eternity is inescapable.

Yes, it is a long time, and in fact time no longer has bearing when speaking of eternity. But, heaven will be so beyond our wildest imaginings that we will not get bored. Hard to imagine, because I have the attention span of a gnat, but I believe this to be true.

If there was no suffering and no pain but things were otherwise pretty much like this world, I can't imagine it ever getting boring. I figure I am trying to live at least five lives right now ... How cool would it be to have forever to do it right?

Imagine being able to learn painting from Da Vinci, master any instrument or language (or several), swim with dolphins, ride a winged lion, feast without having to worry about weight gain (or hangovers), and learn do everything you ever wanted to do or go everywhere you ever wanted to go in this life— not to mention spending time with loved ones. I think it would be kind of neat :)

Unless you were in hell, in which case you'd have a long, long time to regret your 70 years (give or take) of not considering what comes next ...

Eternity is a concept beyond the full understanding of humans. I just know that I can trust God to make heaven as good as He says it will be and hell as horrible as His word tells us it is. I think the awfulness of hell is the eternal separation from God. And how could we ever be bored to be in the eternal presence of our Lord Jesus?

Think of how far back eternity goes. How many times was this universe made? How many different colors did the universe have? How many ways were light and matter seen by the eyes of those who experienced it? How many things were alive and died? Imagine the possibilities. But it's so crazy that we might never know, most of the matter in this universe is not even available, it's in another chaotic dimension where everything is constantly smashing and burning (according to physics experts). The matter in this dimension is slowly being drank up by the hellish, inhospitable one.

Yes I have. And it really hurts mind to think about it. I like to think for eternity, because we will live for eternity and not die off like a lot of people think we will. Yes, hell is eternity, but I don't think you would want to be there eternity, what a rotten place that would be. I would rather live in light than dark my whole existence after death.

Eternity is just a theoretical measurement of time, it has no reflection as to what will happen during that time.
All you have to do is look at how t.v. programming has progressed in the past 30 years, the same concepts, the same type of stories, reruns of old stories, etc. etc. etc.. Look at what the world views as entertainment, drinking, s^x, parties, more drinking, more s^x, more parties, it's all repetitive and that is in this short time frame.
I would rather look forward to how the Bible describes eternity that to look forward to more of this mundane sensuality that has been overused.

I've freaked myself out more than once contemplating eternity. Just as I have thinking about no longer being. I would take eternity over ceasing to exist anyday. But only time can tell, and that really sucks.

Except if what we read is true. I don't know. If eternity in a blissful place where you are never wanting for anything --- never hunrgry, never sad, always happy - never stressed......it's like I look at people who are happy and they are afraid to die. I look at myself struggling to get by and looking like a failure no matter how hard I work (to my in-laws, etc.).....I'm not afraid to die ---- I'm more afraid to live. MY BIGGEST fear is to be homeless and we've been so close (because of my job loss for about 5 weeks -- all my fault - well, that's the way I feel). I sometimes believe we are in hell now. At least my family is.

it depends on how you look at it. i have thought about this many times, though i dont like to b/c it just keeps me thinking. i am not scared to die i am scared of eternity. b/c if there is a heaven and hell witch i think there is you will never cease to exist your soul will live on forever and that is freaky. but on the other side if there isnt heaven or hell you will cease to exist forever. NOW TO answer your question it might and it might not. if you go to heaven maybe there is no such thing as bordom there. but in hell you have eteral damnation. sorry for rambling on its just i think about this often. i dont think you are going to get an answer that makes you happy.
