Ooh,ouch, I feel for you having just had a tooth out myself. Salt water is great for fighting infection, try to use it every hour if you can. A dentist advised me, if you are able to use it, to use dis-solvable aspirin, rinse around your mouth then swallow. If you are doing this then don't use other pain medication. Also oil of cloves is supposed to be good, I've not used it but it may be worth a try. Also when you go into have the tooth extracted try taking arnica tablets for a week before the appointment, it can help with bruising and swelling. In fact it might be worth a try now.

A great natural cure is Clove oil. You can pick it up at a herbal store. I will warn you that it may have a slight burn for a few seconds, but it works so much better than anbesol. Also try a salt rinse or baking soda. Helps to draw out the infection.

Don't use peroxide as it damages the healthy tissue.

So why are your teeth in pain? The best answer is for you to see a dentist. If ambesol is numbing your brain, do you really think that alcohol is going to be any different?

Alcohol usually increases pain until you get so drunk you pass out. I would suggest you alternate Tylenol and Advil (4 every 4-6 hours). Make sure you alternate them and do not take more than the total daily recommended doses. It works in the short term, but it's not good for your liver.

Yes, alcohol temporarily stops pain, especially if you swish it around in your mouth before swallowing. It's not a good long-term solution though, so maybe swish a little to get to sleep and call the dentist in the morning.

I agree with purple, use clove oil... if you are a smoker, try a clove cigarette.
Cloves are both a numbing agent and have antibacterial properties.
clove oil tastes like crap but it works.

Also if you only rinse with alcohol then no problem but you don't want to swallow too much because it can cause you to become intoxicated which will lower your immune system and the pain will get worse.

I've heard that whiskey is good at numbing the gums...I know several people that have tried it and said it actually works, although I can't personally tell you if it really does. Worth a try I suppose!

you are using too much back off, try rinsing your mouth out with warm salty water, or if you can get some sensodine tooth paste that helps until you can see a dentist, good luck
