My parents are going to Hawaii for their anniversary. It's a hawaiian cruise where they sleep on the ship and visit different islands each day. I am putting together a travel notebook for them. If you have been there- please tell me a "must see" to put on their list. Please keep in mind it is their 45th anniversary- so their not really into walking a whole lot or atving. Mostly looking for beautiful spots or cool tourist attractions.
Thank you in advance for your assistance!!!

I have lived in Hawaii for 31 years.
When ask this type of question, I answer it one of 2 ways normally.
There is no best place. Each island offers many thing that you may not see on the other island. And you well not regret seeing what you decide to see & do.
Other way I answer. Who makes the best hamburger? There are many companys that sale, Yet each person has their idea & oppion as to what is best.

One person may love the beach insit it is the best. Another may
love the Mountian and Valley. Another may like do what tourist do go sightseeing see everything.

I say since your parents well be aboard ship. Do not worry they well find enough to see at each island.

I would ask you to tell me what they enjoy. Being a tour escort in Hawaii. Doing 14 day 4 island tours. I can give you a huge list base on their personal wants & wishes.
So e-mail me if I may help. It is call the ALOHA spirit.
No catch or hidden charges.

PS I have sail on all 3 the NCL ships they do Hawaii year round.
Your parents are in for a wonderful time. Even on board ship. There is a lot of Hawaiian entertainment each day, as well as different ones coming on board and giving talks.

A quick and easy place to go on Maui is the Iao State Park. It's very easy to get to and requires very little walking. It's really beautiful and it's a great way to see how beautful the rain forest is. Very green, very high mountains and unusual land formations. Very dramatic and stunningly beautiful. The Road to Hana is beautiful but it's a very long day and can be quite stressful driving on really narrow windy roads, often just one lane.

On the Big Island, I would take a guided tour of Volcanoes Nat'l Park. It's quite facinating and very different.

Those are the only two islands I've been too. I've seen most of both islands and I would say pretty much every where is great. It would be hard to have a bad time in Hawaii.

Big Island (Hawaii) - Hawaii Volcanoes National Park & any of the black sand beaches. Kona and Hilo are very different and there are many wonderful "local" shops and restaurants you won't find anywhere else. Lots of fields, plantations and botanical gardens to check out too.

Maui - Hana, Haleakala and Lahaina are all wonderful in different ways. Likey the ship will dock in Lahaina - a great old town with wonderful history and a lot to do there. Road to Hana is long and wind-y. Probably tough to do in a short day trip, but pretty. Same with Haleakala, although its the only place in the world to see a Silversword (rare plant). North of Lahaina is Kaanapali (very commercialized) and Kapalua (rich & ritzy). Keep going north to see beautiful beaches & coves (Honolua Bay, Olivine Pools, Dragons Teeth & Nakalele Blow Hole).

Oahu - Pearl Harbor, Haunama Bay & The North Shore. Pearl Harbor is obviously historically significant and moving. Hanuama Bay USED to be a big deal - its gone significantly downhill, but is still a popular snorkeling / tourist spot. The North Shore is probably theleast visted, but most naturally beautiful area on the island. Diamond Head will be seen from the ship, but it might be worth it to go over there if they're up to hiking. Beautiful views from up top.

Kauai - Wamiea Falls and Canyon are breathtaking, The "Garden Isle" is usually the greenest and has many natural wonders worth exploring. This would be a good place to have a guided tour or go horseback riding just to appreciate the lush tropical forests on the island.

Just my 2c. Hope it helps - I hope they have a wonderful trip!

Oahu - They should go to Pearl Harbor. It will take about an hour there to see everyting. The Punch Bowl is a neat place that is a graveyard for people who died in the war. There is an awsome view of Honolulu from there. The blow hole is neat and Kilua Beach is the best beach on the island, even if they don't swim, it is pretty to look at. Diamond Head is fun to look at but it is quite a hike to the top. Waikiki is full of places to shop.

Maui - There is lots to do here. Molikini is a neat place to go snorkling. The road to Hana is a neat senic tour. There are many waterfalls to see.

Kauai - Wailea Falls is a neat place to see waterfalls. Waimea Canyon is beautiful.

You don't have to go far on any of the islands to find something to see. I got engaged on Kauai in June and we are going back next June to get married. Good luck!

I'd also add in going onboard the Falls of Clyde, a sailing ship. You don't see to many such museum ships around.
