You can build whatever kind of fence you want, as long as employers are advertising in newspapers in Mexico City for illegal immigrants to come into the country and help them keep wages and working conditions poor, it won't matter. The people will dig tunnels under your fence, and Wal-Mart and Archer Daniels Midland will hire charter jets to shuttle their illegals in.

The government is not rife with inertia. It is listening carefully and following the mandate of the major corporate firms that lobby them and pay their campaign expenses.

So, either you get laws passed and enforced that require jail sentences and fines totalling all receipts during periods when 1% or more of a company's workforce is either direct or contracted illegal immigrants, or your illegal immigrant efforts are doomed to failure.

How is a wall going to solve the problem?

That's a temporary fix.

The point is, they WANT to come here. Can you blame them for wanting to be here? Geez, people took a three month boat ride from England or Europe to come here a few hundred years ago at the risk of death or illness, with nothing but the clothes on their back all for religious freedom or work or whatever. Three month voyage. And you think a fence will stop them? Not if they're determined, buddy. If a fence doesn't work, they'll build a tunnel. Or take a boat. Take your pick. A fence is a cop-out.

If you don't want them to come, then change policy so that there's not so much opportunity for them.

A fence/wall is just a temporary fix. Not a solution.

By the way, they work all the cheap labor jobs here that I'm sure you wouldn't want to work.

Oh c'mon, not again!!!. America is using an economical model called neoliberalism, in which government supposse not to get involved in wich respect to market, so even if you don't wanna get a frontier in common with Mexico, you'll have to live with that.
Do you know how bad is NAFTA for Mexico, in agriculture???, for sure let me tell you that mexican people are good, mexicans are not just those who get migrate to US. Mexicans aren't just poor people or incivilizated indian, they are more learned than US people, and they have a rich culture and history, even more than those called americans. Don't be stupid, you may have to learn much more before you can give an opinion, it's called a responsable opinion.

no,I don't care if Mexicans enter or not.my parents entered illegally 20 years ago with 1,000 dollars and now we live in a huge house and are doing way better then most Americans .they are legal now.I was born in America ,and I'm an American.

I don't know why every one thinks that Mexicans are all bad people .if you ever go to Mexico you'll see how kind they are,and even you have to admit that not all Americans are angels

All fences can be penetrated - even Federal Prisons are broken out of. I think we need a fence or wall, but guards will keep them out.

A permeable US border seems to be more problematic to the north; we've stopped numerous alleged terrorists coming through Canada.

Hell, let's just wall in the entire country.

I think we should. And mount motion sensor vulcan turrets on top. All it will take is a few immigrants trying to cross the border to get ripped apart by 20,000 rounds per minute to deter the rest of them.

The US has closed businesses in the US and moved them to Mexico. The US already has almost half of the Mexican population living in the US. Everything in the US is written in both English and Spanish. I think the US should just go ahead and take over Mexico, increasing the size of the US, and get it over with.

I'm all for it. Let's build a great wall with gun turrets that use microwave blasts. Mines that explode with gummie bears and red dye darts.
Think of all the jobs it would create. But let's not stop there at Mexico, let's do the entire country.

oh, that's an excellent idea, and while were at it, lets put a bubble of tinted glass over the entire US so that nobody can steal our air or look in here to see what we're doing......but hey, make sure to get down to Tijuana pronto for spring break and some cheap hookers and drugs, right bro?
