I am going back to get my PhD so I think it is a wonderful thing and it show our children that we are never to old to learn and it teaches them that if we think it is a valuable thing then maybe they will agree.

I think that is great!!! I don't know why they quit college but its never to late.
The good thing is that a person in their 30s will make the best of college and not only fool around like many do. They have another perspective of life and very strong goals. Many young people don't even know what they want from life.
So they should go back!!!!!!!

My mom went into nursing school when she graduated high school and was a nurse for god knows how long. She hated it. Once my sister and I were old enough not to need her around every second, she went back to school (this was in her 30s) and got a degree. Now she works for herself, travels all over the country, answers to no one, makes a good living and loves every minute of it. It's never too late to go back to college if you need a change in your life.

Crap. Maybe *I* should do that.

People going back to school in their 30's is a great idea, especially to build yourself up in society, learn new technology, keep abreast with what's going on in the world today. Remember, we all get older if we keep on living. The great thing is if we are still able to use our minds, we should be tring to learn everything there is that we can fill our heads with in order to make it in the 21st century. There is so much to learn and if we're still kicking it, let's stay in the ball game before time runs out for us and we're old, grumpy and grey!

Get in there---you might enjoy it much more than the average students. You would also be a terrific example to them, and/or to your children if you have them. My Mom taught college in the sciences until she was 70. Then, she went back and audited film courses for 3 years to get a different perspective on life, and meet non-science types of people.

I'm 30, and in college. There is a lady in one of my classes who is almost 50. Age makes no difference.

Thats great. I have a sister who had 4 kids and passed the Bar at 50. I am so proud of her and anyone who tries later in life and succeeds. I say go for it and when you go you will see that you aren't the only one.

Some people need longer to settle down and mature before they can truly focus on a higher education. I think it's great.
