Its hard to believe a Border Patrol FEDERAL AGENTs, will serve 20 years for shooting the DRUG SMUGGLER in the butt... what a sad day for our Justice System :(

That drug smuggler got exactly what he deserved and those two guys DO NOT deserve to be punished for doing what they had to do. It's sickening. I feel the same way that you do. An illegal drug smuggler's "rights" should NEVER come before a citizen's rights. It just makes me sick to know what our country is coming to.

Have any of you served in the military or in a law enforcement position? Doesn't sound like it! Regardless of the fact that there were drugs involved, he shot at/persued an unarmed person. You do not use deadly force unless warranted. That is illegal...and against Border Patrol policy...period. In addition, his superiors and a court of law both agreed. When you break policy, it reflects on the institution as a whole and the example of law goes both ways. If they allow him to be pardoned, that opens to door for every other Border Patrol Agent to follow suit. It would make more sense to petition the change of policy, than for pardon of breaking a policy...he knew better, especially with 8 yts of experience.

So, you want the government to avoid the courts entirely, throw out the entire criminal justice system, and just convict or pardon people based purely on what you read in the news? You weren't there.

The whole point of a trial is to find out what happened. If the agent broke the law, he's accountable for his actions. If he didn't break the law, or if his actions were legally justified, he gets acquitted. That's the way the legal system works.

The legal system is not something that can be ignored at will just because the defendants were wearing a uniform. Either the law applies to everyone or stop complaining about anyone being "illegal".

And to all those who were Pissed our Agents Shot a DRUG SMUGGLER in the back. Will look into passing a Bill that ALL Drug Smugglers from this point forward get SHOT right in the FACE next time.

They were doing their job. Like any other officers on the street who must make instant decisions. And they were being fired at just before this.
Many people are asking for this to be further investigated-and it looks good that he will get off.

Of course. People who break the law to enter the country are much more likely to break the law in other ways while they're here.
