I have a FWB 124D .177 that was imported by Beeman from Feinwerkbau in Germany...This is one amazing air rifle, I'm not all that great a rifle shot, but, on good days I can put 10 rounds through one ragged hole at 10 meters, and 1/2in 5 shot groups at 40 yards..We won't talk about the bad days haha..
For fun "plinking" and to practice field shooting, I use 3 steel cans, one inside another, inside another the last filled with sand. Even though I only get 840fps with this rifle it will still penetrate all three cans at 40 yards.. There is no danger to neighbors, I live in the middle of nowhere. I don't hunt squirrel with this rifle because I don't care to eat them, but it works very well for rabbit.
Naturally some of the models are better than others, you're going to pay for what you get...I prefer the .177 over the .22 and I think you will find that's the case with most air rifle/pistol enthusiast. The Beeman R-1 is probably their best model ever. They are a high dollar air rifle, suggested retail is around $600 but sometimes you can find one that is "broken in" for far less..We like to say "air rifles wear in, not wear out". Mine recommends for its maintenance, one drop of oil after the first six million rounds.

The .22 caliber is not as accurate overall as the .177 cal. It is still a nice rifle and if in good shape should hold a 2 inch group at 50 yards.

they're pretty good. Air rifles are rated in feet per second.500 feet per second or better is good enough for target practice.
