Ignore the first poster. He obviously knows nothing about plasma TVs. My recommendation? Go look at the very best out there so you know exactly what they are capable of.

Next, look at the price tag. Did you get sticker shock? If no, buy the best, you will never regret it and all your friends will wonder why their Costco 50" plasmas look like garbage compared to yours. If the answer was yes, you did get sticker shock, start moving downwards in price, performance and possibly size until you find the level(s) that you are comfortable with.

Now, which is arguably the hands down best plasma? That would be the Pioneer Elite. They make a 43" & a 50" plasma and another 50" that displays 1080p.

panasonic th-50ph9uk,th-50phd8uk,th-50px60u, pioneer plasma sets are a close 2nd & besides playnig games on a plasma is not wise burn in can & will happen over time & there is no 50inch plasma that can do 1080p yet & but there is a 1080p plasma but it cost almost as much as a house panasonic has a model that cost somewhere around 70g's

if its plasma and 50 inch... its already pretty good... i dont think there is a big difference between individual ones
