I know it's US slang. Has this americanism taken root in Britain. If so, is it likely to become another addition to the Oxford English Dictionary?

I think it came from sucking lemons (or limes, or pickles, or any other sour thing). The sour, puckered look people get indicates extreme distaste. 'That sucks' means 'that's bad.'
Dictionary.com indicates it's vernacular meaning 'fellatio.' So, given that terms like 'blow me' have a negative connotation, it's possible that is the origin of the term, meaning 'that performs distasteful sexual favors.' I rather prefer the lemons.
It will no doubt show up in all of the dictionaries, eventually. I think it's here to stay.

It is a slang word for revolting or digusting it has taken root in britain it will never be part of the dictionary only in its right term as

It probably originates from the nautical term,BLOW ME DOWN.
As in the sailing ships,
Then as time progressed, BLOW ME.
Which now is Americanised? As That sucks...

I think it is derived from the act of felacio. And I'm suprised that it hasn't already been added to the dictionary

I think it comes from oral sex. People often say that some thing 'blows' meaning the same as when something 'sucks'.
Like so many things in life, a penis is to blame.:>)
