Urban myth. I've always had cats and they've always sat on my lap and I have kids. I think this one goes waaay back to: if you keep a cat on your lap, you will stay seated and if you are seated with a cat on your lap chances of being unvirtuous are slim. Kind of like what my Grandma always told us girls.....about keeping a nickel between your knees, kind of thing to stay out of trouble.

Well -- keeping a cat on your lap at all times does not make you infertile but it does keep you from conceiving because if the cat is always on your lap it is not possible to have intercourse.

It's a myth but there is truth to the litter box causing health problems for a pregnant mother.
