Sorry if this question is confusing, but here goes:
So at the end of July I had two episodes of diarrhea, and I took Imodium, which stopped the diarrhea.
A week or so later, I have very loose bowels and again took Imodium.
Ever since then I've had normal bowels.
But now, for the past week or so I've had stomachaches in the morning (but normal bowels) and just today after dinner I had a strange bowel -- one bowel came out normally but the rest sort of came out very fast but it wasn't loose or watery..just small pieces coming out quickly. Would this be considered diarrhea? Or is diarrhea usually loose and almost makes a "pile"...and always watery?
I'm thinking maybe the Imodium had something to do with it..or do you think it could even be IBS? I'm scared that I have IBS..please help.

it could be anything but it doesnt sound like ibs. ibs is when it happens all the time. my doctor thought i had ibs because i got it all the time for 2 years not going away and anything i ate it didnt matter but found out i have a stomache ulcer, gall stones and acid reflux. the best thing for you to do is to make a appoinment with your doctor they might refer you to a gi doctor (stomache doctor) and do testing on you.

If you don't mind, I read your blog, and it seems to me that Imodium is just a temporary fix, if you read websites like I had to also, you will see. If it goes on, that signifies a problem for your doctor (probably no biggie) so please read below.

What is the most important information I should know about Imodium?
• For acute diarrhea, notify your doctor if your symptoms do not improve within 2 days, if you develop a fever, or if you notice blood or mucus in the stool. If Imodium is being used to treat chronic diarrhea, contact your doctor if there is no improvement after 10 days.

IBS would be more persistent and pervasive. It sounds like you're worrying over very little. Consider your diet and consider your stress as these have a lot to do with it. Relax and let nature take it's course.

I doubt it was the immodium. Your bowels can be affected by changes in your diet or even stress in your life. If you are concerned about the changes you have been experiencing then you should talk to your doctor about it to rule out any serious problems.

Dont be scared you have IBS. i do and i take medication and im perfecxtly fine. It means you just have a nervous stomache! But it doesnt sound like IBS. IBS is when you have serve constipation or diareah all the time. You have plain diareah. Dont worry. luv.

Doesn't sound like diarrhea. You might consider changing your eating habits. Eating a diet of high fat and processed foods will mess up anyones sytem. You should have a bowl movement after every meal.

I have IBS; and thats exactly what happens sorry to say. I have to watch what I eat espicially lettuce, cucumbers and green peppers they really set it off. Also if I dont eat for more than 6 hours except to sleep, once I eat it goes right through me.

I think it may be IBS, but its nothing to worry about, theres no special diets to go on, its just there and theres nothing anyone can do about it, but anyway, before concluding this try cutting out things in your diet like pastry, bannanas and try a bit of prune juice (beleive me it got me going)

Try taking acidophilous. You can buy it over the counter at Wal-mart or Walgreens, etc. It will replentish the normal flora in your intestinal tract.
