Yes, my sister-in-law has a cat that they have had for years and he has always been mean. He hisses and scratches at you if you get to close to him and he isn't in the mood to be fooled with. They have a rotweiler and he isn't a bit scared of it. In fact, he tries to aggravate him. He is getting old and has been in the family for years. Now, he's like a grouchy old man. lol

Yes. Simple answer. I find it hilarious that some people have the need to throw in "she's/he's very pretty". What the hell does that have do with anything? You're supposed to feel better about a pretty cat attacking you than an ugly cat?
Also find it sad that many cats, animals in general, are put down in shelters everywhere simply because of lack of space and many of those are very nice and sociable. And yet, people will put up and spoil some little *****-attitude cat for years and years.

Yes there are mean cats I have one just as you described yours. Smokie is a beautiful cat I rescued him from Walmart he had been abandoned there and by the size of him now from what he was when I brought him home he was stranded there for awhile. Any how he is a very pretty cat, but he bites and attacks when he wants to play only he hurts bad because his in stints is to hunt for food. He can't tell the difference. We also love him and when petting we sure do know when to stop. I had another cat from a kitten and she too was mean. hiss and scratch and chase you but lived along happy life indoors 18 years. So the answer is yes cats sometimes are born mean and sometimes they become mean because of what has happen to them. Try getting another cat from your local shelter around the same age for company sometimes it helps I now have 3 one mus hie which can also be a pain, one scaredy cat and one Mean Cat. They all get along they fight they play and they share.

Personally, even though your cat was not a stray (and if it was, you had her since she was a kitten), I think that she may be feral. My cat, who passed away four months ago, used to hate people besides my family living in my house with me. She never like strangers, other animals, and once she saw a reflection of herself in the side of a clean car and hissed it at. There is nothing you can really do about your cat, and I do not think she is mean. Probably just very angry or annoyed. Female cats are also more indepentdant than male cats, and once your cat hates people/animals, she always will.
On a side note, your cat reminds me of my friend's 2 year-old female black cat. She also hates people and always will.
To make your cat stop attacking your feet, what you do is tie little water balloons (filled with air) around your ankles. When your cat tries to scratch your ankles, she will stratch the balloons, making them pop, and she will become frightened. With all my cats, after doing this "experiment" with them, they do not attack my feet anymore!
Good luck with your kitty!

She is the dominant one in the house, but like people cats have there personality's not all cats are the same, like there fur colour, eye colour and all that.
Some people are just snobby, or bossy and some cats are smoochy and affectionate but some can be mean and don't like to be touched or cuddled.
Did something happen to her when she was a kitten?
Maybe this is not the right place to talk about it, maybe ring up your vet and just ask them.
Some cats do suffer from depression and schizophrenia
just like people, how do I know this?, because one of my cats have a mild case of schizophrenia.

Wow. She just sounds like a boss cat. Hopefully she won't attack someone or their dog and get you dragged into court. You shouldn't tolerate her attacking your feet or anything else. Squirt her with water from a squirt bottle, right in the face, every time she does this from now on. You should be the boss, not her. You can teach an old cat new tricks.
Good luck!

My old neighbor's cat, Patches, was like that, but she had a special hatred of people. Come within 15 feet of her, and she would hiss, arch back, run toward you, grab your leg claws out, and rake your leg with her hind claws.
When my neighbor moved away, she left the cat to the people who moved in. They had children... the cat disappeared in less than a week. I'd bet that the parents did away with it. Sad. Patches was a beautiful big long-hair calico.

Some cats really are just a walking attitude problem. I've known a few cats that I've lovingly referred to as "demon" cats. You could try finding a cat behaviorist if it's becoming more of a problem...but it sounds like you're used to it and accepting her as she is :). All I can say is love her the best you can, and make sure her rabies is kept current.

I don't think so. it's just her personality I guess. she may be being territorial and you may smell like dogs or something. I have an all black cat too but she's one of the sweetest cats in the world. she isn't the cat from hell. people are just kidding with you probably. sorry I couldn't help more. Good Luck anyways though!! =^-^=
