As a general rule, men tend to be logical, women emotional. (I realize that some women are more 'logical' than some men). I want to look at this a bit closer in the future. The saying by Christ when his mother (and others were outside the camp but wanted to enter), may significantly alter the understanding of this test.

The bible was written to put men in the power seat. Most religions out of the middle east seem to do this. The Celts as well as many pagan beliefs put women at a high or equal stature as men. Even the Norse had female deities. It boils down to politics. I believe women should be highly respected and revered. They give birth to our children and put up with us men. But With out men they can not give birth. It is a partnership to continue existence. Hence the beliefs in both a GOD and GODDESS! BB Sdw

It was probably written by a man who thought very little of women. The writer probably thought that women had nothing of value to teach and had little brains with which to do any thinking with. The bible was also put together by a committee, so in the end it is just a collection of stories and opinions.

Another good example of mixing religion and tradition. Like in Islam, Jewish women was always subordinate to men. In the Middle Ages, the Catholic Church burnt women as witches because they were too smart.
Man have used the bible to control women all through history.

The bible in speaking of this is referring to spiritual matters. As a woman is not to be in authority over a man, for instance, in a church setting.
Now, some churches have women pastors. That's up to them. Personally, I don't call anything God says in His word crazy.
