I feel frustrated (very). I feel like I want to confront that female officer and kick her ***. I was supposedly "double parked". I was in the car and when they stopped me, I was leaving the area.

When you break the rules you have to pay sometimes, just take a few deep breaths and get over it. Traffic tickets will happen, just try to learn from your mistake, and from now on don't double park.

I would be very frustrated and upset, too. You do have some options here besides the one you list. There is a number on the traffic citation that you can call and get the hours the court house is open, then you may request a court hearing. If the officer who wrote the ticket does not appear, it will be dismissed!! Even if she does show, you have the right to explain to the Judge your side of the story. If this is your only ticket, let the Judge know so and how important your "perfect" driving record is to you. Good luck.

Don't get upset about it. First, if you were doubled parked in NYC or downtown Boston it is a real nuissance for the traffic flow.
If you were in the car...it is questionable if it was double parking.
I was under the impression the car had to be empty. I could be wrong but...call your insurance company to find out.
Thirdly...you must consider...and I think this is the real reason...that meter maids are "overzealous" and their job is to raise revenue and this is the easist way. Cities and towns sometimes run low on funds at the end of the fiscal year so they send out the revenue raising troops to tag as many as possible.
If you are still mad...challenge it.

Well here double parked just means if you pull up alongside a car that is already parked. You don't necessarily have to get out of the car - it is still illegal.

So if that is what you were doing, then you were in the wrong and you need to accept that and move on.

If on the other hand you were not double parked, I would contest the charge.

Think of it as your first parking award, its no big deal, everybody gets one once in a while it will keep you honest in the future. Go ahead and pay the ticket and forget about it. Oh by the way, my money would be on the officer when you feel like going after her. Leave it alone and learn from this experience.

You think that's bad. I got a ticket for running a red light, my 1st ticket, and wasn't even behind the wheel. Actually, it was my cousin who was driving. The dummy didn't have his license with him. I let him use mine since we had similar descriptions, and this was back before the picture ones. I shoulda let him get the ticket for both the light and the license, but it makes such good telling at reunions. My aunt and mother almost projected their drinks when we told them many years later. I wished I'd had a camera, the looks on their faces was priceless. Good thing we're too old to get grounded.

well it really is not that bad...be glad that it is nothing more serious....i got one dwi and it ruined me...i would of been thankful for a double parked ticket....though i really never heard of double parked before....they must of needed coffee money, least that is what i hear sometimes....but i really drove drinking one time and thought i really had to leave that place i was at and i will never get a car back now cause i can never afford the insurance...and try not to do anything else they think is illegal....but i understand your frustration too....but good thing you did not react like you felt like doing because they would of really got you into deep trouble then.....relax and try not to think about it..pay your fine and be done with it....drive and park more careful i guess...

Why does everyone think that the rules do not apply to them?

If you were where you were not supposed to be, you deserved a ticket. The rules are made to protect. You broke the rule. Now pay the price and next time don't "double park."

Cops do much worse things than this. At least they did not subdue you and tell you to have sex with them or they will arrest you. A cop in this area poured gas on his girlfriend and set her on fire.

They deal with criminals which makes them be in realy lousy moods. Plus they have to worry about you shooting them. They don't know if you will. Read this page about being happy and you will fee better. This is part of American life. I won't even get into race difference between you and cop but America has lots of racial tension.

That's life. People get traffic tickets all the time. Sometimes they deserve them, and sometimes they don't. Unless you have some concrete proof that you were not double parked, there is not much you can do. This happens to lots of people.
