No, I don't have a twin brother named bryce.
I just wanted to add that this isn't my kids or i'm not referring to myself. It is my girlfriend. She doesn't get the top brand items, she goes for the cheap ones, so that shouldn't be a problem for her parents. But things her sister wants, she doesn't have to pay for, even though she has more money than my girlfriend. My girlfriend went on a school trip last school year, and her parents wanted her to pay her 250 dollars. And she could have had that done a long while ago, but she has to pay for stuff that she needs. She has already paid for new school clothes, which she bought on clearance so she could get a lot of stuff. But her parents har making her pay for her school supplies, and she needs a graphing calculator this year, but her parents are making her pay for that too, which those run up to 100 dollars. But yeah, if her sister needed a graphing calculator, parents would have bought it without question.

Parents are required to pay for the basics within the limits of what they can afford .... a 15 year old could be expected to earn some money to help pay for school supplies.

I don't think there is a law. I think by law, parents have to feed and clothe their kids. Now, is there a law that says a kid must move out when they are 18 and never receive any money from mom anymore? hahaha.. I am still supporting my kids.. but I do so with a smile... maybe your parents have money issues or maybe there is something else there they are not telling you. If it is a money thing, there are programs at schools that help with that. And, my kids have went to school cold in the winter with no coat.. because after buying several winter coats, they were insistent to leaving them at school in their locker.. with 2 kids, that is $60 a pop.. I figure once I hit $500 a year in coats, they are on their own. I don't think it is a law, and I love my kids dearly, and will do all I can... but if your parents are struggling I am sure there are ways to get assistance for that.

my mom had 8 kids and yes my parents paid for everything while we went to school. till we had our own full time jobs.
i now have a 16yr daughter and she works weekends(3 days), I just had her buy herself her school shoes and shirts. I bought her school supplies and jeans.(she didnt want new ones).
but at 15yr. need to obey parents no matter how dumb their rules are. Yes , I think, parents should buy their kids school things. maybe compromise with your mom and say : "you will buy your socks or some school supplies, but could she help with the more expensive things"(say this calmly ) and listen to her also.
only 3 years left. maybe for next school year do a month ahead of time or 2 months.

You are still your parents responsibility and it is their responsibility to make sure you have everything you need to be successful in school. But you may need to compromise and not demand to have the best, top of the line materials. Items that will do the job - a $.50 notebook instead of one that costs $2.50 because it has something on it. Same for folders, binders, bookbags.

Parents are responsible for their childs needs until that child turns 18. So yes they have to pay for school supplies and clothing and things like that.
By the way, do you have a twin brother named Bryce?

Yes parents need to pay for the school supplies and clothing's. Is part of being a parent. My parents paid for all my school supplies through out my high school, but I paid for my cloths when I was 16. We were poor so I didn't mind. When it came for my high school ring my parents paid for it. Senior supplies my dad paid for half and I paid the other half and senior pictures my parents paid for half and my grandparents paid the other.
**when i say parents i mean mom and step dad.

Parents are obligated to meet the basic physiological needs of their minor children, as well as their educational needs. Yes, there are laws that address this, but they usually apply to upper education (like college). Even so, the parents have to be CAPABLE of paying for these things to be held to the obligation.

I don't know if it is a law or not, I would think that a parent would buy those kinds of necessities for their child if they are needed and if the kid is under 18.

yes, they have to pay for it. you're still underage and needs financial assistance from your parents.
save your money from babysitting and spend them whenever you want. you earned them.
but in the end, you get to decide what to do. but overall, it's their responsibility
