And don't tell me the "render onto Caesar that which is Caesar's" includes military service. Jesus was asked whether it was lawful to pay taxes. He asked the questioner whose picture is on the coin. "Caesar" was the reply. Thus "render onto Caesar that which is Caeser's." Taxes, not military service.
So, where does -Jesus- condone violence of any kind, -including- military service?

Marty Jr.: Yes. So it's okay to remove retail outlets from Churches. That's the only violence he condoned?

No, i'd not. i imagine an excellent form of folk might want to apply the direction and self-discipline and abilities, yet i might want to rather see defense force workers who connect because they need to and believe in what they're doing (no matter if I also believe in it). some absolutely everyone is basically no longer reduce out for defense force existence and would't cope with it; it truly is effective, and it would not cause them to any a lot less of a citizen nor that they could't serve their united states. basically no longer on the battlefield, and by no skill absolutely everyone should be entrusted with the prevalent jobs and responsibilities of a soldier, i visit't imagine that that is uncomplicated. no longer even all volunteers make it through effortless preparation. on the different hand, i might want to condone needed civil or community service, which i comprehend that Israel also has. i imagine it teaches more desirable helpful compassion and information.

I don't think He does. Jesus wasn't sent into the world to be a conqueror over the Roman Empire. Instead, he aided everyone as equals. Remember the story of how He helped a centurion's daughter? I don't think Jesus condones any sort of career. The only thing He hates is sin.

Jesus minstered during the Pax Romana, and the only army around was made of romans, but not hebrews. So, it does not appear that it was an issue at that time. However, Jesus did uphold the word of God in its entirety. The old testament is full of examples of wars the Israeli had to fight in order to protect themselves, and claim their land. In most all cases, God had directed the Israeli army and given them victory.
Most of the teaching of Jesus was directed to believers and their behavior toward other believers. So the famous "turn the other cheek" was said in this context- between believers, not between a believer and an obvious killer-enemy.
In the Book of Revelation, however, the rise of the anti-christ is described as well as the battle that Jesus himself intervenes in, to save Israel. If Jesus did not approve of warfare, he would not get involved but he does. He comes back as a king who fights the enemy of this people to protect them from the carnage that is about to happen. So righteous, justified fighting against evil would be something he would approve of. This is the purpose of military service - protection of the people.

In the old Testament yes there were all kinds of fighting and wars and yes God sided with certain armies, for whatever reason, at the time but most wouldn't listen to Him back then even when He let them win so He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to this earth to teach us the proper way to live.He taught us to love one another. "What you do unto my brothers you do onto me"So if we help, care, and love each other along with the ones we don't want to we are listening and following His guidelines. If we did, there wouldn't be any need for the military. There would be no killings, rapes, murders, stealing, etc.I think God is very disappointed in the world He created. No He doesn't condone any kind of violence. We are extremely lucky that Christ gave up His life for our sins and God is so forgiving.

Luke 22:35 And he said to them, "When I sent you out with no moneybag or knapsack or sandals, did you lack anything?" They said, "Nothing." 36 He said to them, "But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one.
When Jesus was getting ready to leave He told his disciples to sell what they had and buy swords for self protection. Jesus came as the suffering servant but He will be returning as the conquering King!
Revelation 19:11 Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. 12 His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. 13 He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. 14 And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. 15 From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords. 17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and with a loud voice he called to all the birds that fly directly overhead, "Come, gather for the great supper of God, 18 to eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all men, both free and slave, both small and great." 19 And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies gathered to make war against him who was sitting on the horse and against his army. 20 And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who in its presence had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur. 21 And the rest were slain by the sword that came from the mouth of him who was sitting on the horse, and all the birds were gorged with their flesh.
In the book of Romans we read this passage about rulers who bear the sword.
Romans 13:1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, 4 for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer.
When Jesus talked about turning the other cheek He was talking about bearing an insult to one's personal honor. He wasn't telling people that if a murderous rapist comes into your house that you should let him kill you and have his way with your wife and daughters. Nor was He saying that nations shouldn't have armies to protect their citizens or to be God's ministers to execute wrath upon evil doers.
