...they have to invent 'scripture' to support their arguments when biblical scripture won't?
For example, earlier today I asked why God created a talking snake in Eden, yet no other animal talked. I was told it was Satan, tho' there is no scripture that claims Satan was permitted in Eden (and why would God let Satan into Eden, given that God is omniscient?).
When I asked whether Jesus condoned war or condoned people doing violence to others for any reason, I was told the "render onto Caesar that which is Caesar's" included military service. Yet that quote is a direct response to being asked whether it was lawful to pay taxes. Caesar's picture is on the coin, thus the reference to Caesar.
If they have to invent scripture to support their beliefs, why should I believe them when they tell me to trust the bible?

Bimpster: You've invented that story. Not a word of it can be found in scripture.

Rabeekay: I respect your point of view. My question was directed more to those who interpret literally. But I appreciate you answering. Your answer is helpful.

All religions that exist nowadays are all bullshit. You are terribly correct, most people have subsituted genuine scripture and the word of GOD with meaningless rituals, interpretation, embellishment, and outright idolatry. It is a sad and terrible thing to have happened and every single person who has done so, from people who say that Jesus is GOD to the people who believe that Jesus was the "Prince of Peace" all mock GOD and disobey GOD's will. It is so much better if you do some research yourself than to follow the words of the misguided.

no matter if you're taking the tale actually, you're literally not describing the tale of the Ark as offered in the old testomony. you save throwing in "must have's" which do not unavoidably persist with. The flood "must have" lined Mt. Everest, the shape of animal species "must have" been more desirable than the account describes. there have been also more desirable than 2 of a few species, basically 2 of others. we do not comprehend what element of the earth the flood lined, the way it affected different continents, or which animal species required saving. it really is no longer sparkling how most of the earth contained a human inhabitants at this factor. i don't believe of the account needs to be taken actually, yet you ought to commence through getting the quite tale instantly.

Christian based their faith solely on the Bible not neccessarily on the technical details of its writings but rather more on the essence ot the teachings that will make them better persons.
Not all Christians except the priests and would be pastors are trained to answer questions such as yours and chances are they will make errors if your kind shoots the question. Why not ask those who claim they have the authority and then make your opinion about it.
And if still you are not satisfied with their answers, I do not think you worth anything to be pressured to believe since none of them worth anything to you I presume.

No scripture saying that the devil was allowed in eden? Not directly, it doesn't say that your brain is necessary for life either.
What about Job? he allowed satan to tempt greatly there!
And about Caesar, the bible does tell you to obey authorities even if they are corrupt, but you cannot deny God by law. God's law says do not murder, is Caesar's war murder? I personally do not believe that all war is murder, that's up to you. But also, Did Caesar really send people against their will off to war?
Never do I or any true christian invent scripture, we can only missinterpret it.
However, there are MANY who will invent it like the whole mormon doctrine or on a smaller scale, catholics.

i tell you this unless you believe you shall not enter the Kingdom of God Heaven
God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever BELIEVES in him shall not perish but have ever last life
For God sent sent not his son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved
so you ask why i would want you to believe i don't want you to perish

The Book of Revelation makes very clear exactly who that old serpent was:
Rev 12:7 And there was a great battle in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon, and the dragon fought, and his angels.
Rev 12:8 And they prevailed not: neither was their place found any more in heaven.
Rev 12:9 And that great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, who seduceth the whole world. And he was cast unto the earth: and his angels were thrown down with him.
Rev 20:1 And I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
Rev 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, the old serpent, which is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.
Rev 20:3 And he cast him into the bottomless pit and shut him up and set a seal upon him, that he should no more seduce the nations till the thousand years be finished. And after that, he must be loosed a little time.
Here's some scripture directly from Jesus on the nature of conflict:
Mat 10:34 Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword.
Mat 10:35 For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Mat 10:36 And a man's enemies shall be they of his own household.
Mat 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me.
Mat 10:38 And he that taketh not up his cross, and followeth me, is not worthy of me.
Luk 22:35 When I sent you without purse and scrip and shoes, did you want anything?
Luk 22:36 But they said: Nothing. Then said he unto them: But now he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise a scrip: and he that hath not, let him sell his coat and buy a sword.
Luk 22:37 For I say to you that this that is written must yet be fulfilled in me. And with the wicked was he reckoned. For the things concerning me have an end.
Luk 22:38 But they said: Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said to them: It is enough.
Rev 19:11 And I saw heaven opened: and behold a white horse. And he that sat upon him was called faithful and true: and with justice doth he judge and fight.
Rev 19:12 And his eyes were as a flame of fire: and on his head were many diadems. And he had a name written, which no man knoweth but himself.
Rev 19:13 And he was clothed with a garment sprinkled with blood. And his name is called: THE WORD OF GOD.
Rev 19:14 And the armies that are in heaven followed him on white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
Rev 19:15 And out of his mouth proceedeth a sharp two-edged sword, that with it he may strike the nations. And he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of God the Almighty.
Rev 19:16 And he hath on his garment and on his thigh written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
Rev 19:17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun: and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that did fly through the midst of heaven: Come, gather yourselves together to the great supper of God:
Rev 19:18 That you may eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of tribunes and the flesh of mighty men and the flesh of horses and of them that sit on them: and the flesh of all freemen and bondmen and of little and of great.
Make of it what you will.

I personally do not take the bible literally I don't think there was a talking snake in the garden of eden. The snake symbolizes the voice of evil the thing that will make u stray into temptation of "sin". I do not take the bible literally it could be symbolism. I do not even no if there was a gardeb of eden, and if they ate an apple. That whole story could symbolize the seperation of mankind from god, and the hardships that that has caused.
I dont know if this is off topic or not but it may shed some light onto your bible reading if you don't interpret the bible literally

The serpent in the Old testament is nothing more than what it says a talking serpent any other argument is simply inferred you should tell them that. Second the bible says those who live by the sword shall die by the sword so for no reason should a Christian be involved in military warfare.

I have seen two different statements that make me want to slam my head on my desk. When I make a statement about Jesus being a Pacifist, I get "I did not come to bring peace, but a sword"
And when I ask about Jesus in the temple I am told "Jesus was the prince of peace, and did not come to bring a sword."
I know how you feel.

Adam and Eve could communicate with all the animals in the garden. It was not unusual for them to "give orders" to the animals because they had been given dominion over them. The snake however was a bit craftier then the rest of the animals and Satan took advantage of that. He used the snake and convinced Eve she would be like God. There was much truth in Satan's lie in that only God really knows the difference between good and evil. Yet Adam and Eve both paid with their lives the price to know what God knew about good and evil. Animals spoke throughout the Bible. Just look up Baalams donkey.

If you are ignorant enough to believe in faith, you become an asset to the church. Turns out that people will often beleive in unwarrented lies, beacuse faith condones, neh encourages blind obedience. The Bible was meant to never be questioned. Just as the Nazi regime was meant to never be questioned.
