The LDS church is an official religion, labeled under Christianity, and it is not a cult. The definition of a Christian is as follows:

"adj. Professing belief in Jesus as Christ or following the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.
Relating to or derived from Jesus or Jesus's teachings.
Manifesting the qualities or spirit of Jesus; Christlike.
Relating to or characteristic of Christianity or its adherents.
Showing a loving concern for others; humane.

n. One who professes belief in Jesus as Christ or follows the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.
One who lives according to the teachings of Jesus. "

The LDS church follows all of the definitions of being Christian and Christianity.

I think that the church is great and filled with many great and moral people. I know that these people are not forced into the religion and that they are not deceived, but they join by their own choice, their own free will.
This religion believes in being good to others, including doing service and being kind, it encourages good health, and it is respectful of all other religions.

Thank you for asking this question, and hopefully your question will be answered honestly and correctly

Jesus was told by his disciples that some one was casting out devils in His name, but he didn't follow them. I guess they were complaining that some one was starting a 'cult'.

So what did Jesus tell them? Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. For he that is not against us is on our part. For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

John the Baptist from prison wanted to know if Jesus was the savior. How did he answer? Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

I can't say that people are healed as they were by Jesus, but you can judge the church member by what Joseph Smith said: "He is to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the affilicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all, wherever he finds them."

I think Bunny02 answers your question beautifully if you think that the LDS church is a cult or some Satanic group. We are Christian. I don't know why people have such huge problems against our church. We don't harm anyone or "brainwash" anyone. We do what we do and don't harm anyone.

A cult is any group which teaches doctrines or beliefs that deviate from the biblical message of the Christian faith. It is very important that we recognize cults and avoid any involvement with them. Cults often teach some Christian truth mixed with error, which may be difficult to detect. There are some features common to most cults:
They do not adhere solely to the sixty-six books of the Bible as the inspired Word of God. They add their "special revelations" to the Bible as equally authoritative.

They do not accept that our relationship to Jesus Christ is a reality "by grace through faith" alone, but practice instead a salvation by works.

They do not give Jesus Christ, the divine Son of God, full recognition as the second Person of the Trinity, composed of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Some of these groups are Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, the Unification Church, Unitarians, Spiritists, Scientologists, and others

I've got no problem with the idea that Hebrews traveled to the
U.S. early on. And had thier prophets, what have you.
I have seen where they found Hebrew artifacts. A man found a
stone with writing on it. He tried to translate it but couldn't. And
a coworker walked up from the other side of the table, and said
that's Hebrew!
As far as thier beliefs. They have probably been distorted through
time by man's wisdom like all the rest.

Everything you need to know can be found in the link below. I had questions as well and researched the Mormon church, and the more I found out the more upset I became. I have been able to varify
most of what you are about to read. This web site contains the truth and even many inside the CJCLDS/Mormon are not told about this stuff:

I have not read the Book of Mormons, or Book of Abraham to date, but they seem to be closer to the 'Christian' truth than I have heard frommany over the years.

Lots of good, moral people-but unfortunately its a cult. They all burn. Its so sad that Satan can make the false religions seem so right to certain people.
