Check for the SPCA, animal shelters or kennels in your area. You may be able to find work in a vet's clinic.

Mainly, to become a vet yourself you need to concentrate on getting VERY good grades. The competition for veterinary school is tougher than the competition for medical school, so only the absolute best get in. There aren't as many vet schools as there are medical schools, so there aren't as many student placements.

Work hard and I am sure you can do it. Best of luck with it.

I think I would start with all the Veterinarian's offices and offer to volunteer a few hours a week.........anyone in their right mind would not mind helping a young person with some early career advice.....

or join a Explorer group with the Boy Scouts this admits both gils and boys
Boy Scouts of America

Call and see if they have a Veterinarian Explorer Post that you can join....that would be such fun for you too.

Animal shelters are a great place to start.

I actually did a stint in a local vets office in middle school for a year. You can call around (especially new practices that have just opened) and ask about volunteering. You might luck out that way.
