You should get a point and shoot camera from Canon. Even though it has fewer controls than other digital cameras but many are also small, bordering on tiny and it's also a camera that fits into your pocket, you're more likely to have it when you need it. Trust me on this I study cameras and all that stuff even though I'm 14 I'm because it's my future carrer.

if it doesnt have to be black, go for the CANON SD630 or sd700...VERY nice cameras
