a spittle, a drop an ocean?

Enough water to touch the skin for it is not just plain water but is the water included in God"s command combined with God's Word, for without God's Word the water is just plain water and no Baptism - no matter if you pour, spit, lick or immerse the person.

But, WITH the Word of God, it IS a Baptism, that is a life giving water, rich in grace and washing of the new birth.

As St. Paul says in Titus3, "He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior. So that having been justified by His grace we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life."

Which tradition are you asking? The quantity needed can be anywhere from a few drops to anoint the person to enough for a full immersion. Timing of the baptism also varies from days after birth to being old enough to understand the ceremony and accept Jesus in the process.

No amount of physical water of the world is needed. In order to be baptized into the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Spirit, Living Water is required.

In the Church of Don we use just enough to hold their head under water long enough that they beg for air and we let them up only after they nod that that the Church of Don is the one and only true church. We've only lost a few this way.

Depends on the size of the person, you are supposed to be totally submersed, so enough to do that.. Bathtub full, ocean, lake, river, swimming pool.

Technically you are cleansed by the "holy spirit", not the water. The water is symbolic....therefore it need only be a drop....but people will insist otherwise. It's not true.
