I have a diverse, yet deep and discerning religious/spirtual background.
I am a natural healer with formal training. I myself don't need to actually touch the person, and some healings take time.
In a gospel church I attended, the 'brother' in charge had a beneficial personality to motivate peoples' acceptance of the healing and boosting of faith. I wish Ihad that. But I do have a gift for timing while in public.
Spiritual healing is something vital most religions have left behind; even calling it taboo.
So, the only reference I can give that bridges the gap between tradition and miracle manifestation would be the Celestine Insights.
After so many years of discouragement by people not wanting healing, the lessons helped renew my spirit & divine corrospondence, and even helped ward off a shadow that has haunted the family for so long.
Finding others first go with those whom face their inner flaws, and love the world selflessly. Ask when in a spiritual state of mind, and the divine coincidence will be set up. (like this one!)
Everyone else zip-it. Your answers are oppinions; not helpful as this website is meant to be.

Foremost, are you looking for healing? I would look elsewhere. What do you believe will happen from this 'laying on of hands?' Are you hoping for a miracle? Do you really believe a few fellow men from your church have the capacity to work miracles? Do you wrap your Depends in tin foil?
Let me remind you that if your 'brothers' have such an ability, they would likely be canonized (should their powers prove legitimate), as 'healing the sick' is a hardcore, full-fledged miracle--one that Jesus performed on numerous occasions. Such a talent is historically (and I find the veracity of MANY--not all, but many--pre-modern claims to sainthood quite dubious as the people of the time were gullible to the point of credulity and rather dupable) ascribed only to saints for the most part. Not all saints, mind you, possess such talent, but all had to perform at least two miracles to be considered for canonization. This means that of the modicum of all persons ever living who were canonized, that an even smaller number had the capacity you feel your 'church brothers' somehow may possess. I find the likelihood of this to be extremely bleak. Statistically speaking, you should really be hoping for a placebo effect as a result of this 'laying on of hands.' That is, of course, unless you're just looking for an excuse to have a group of men touch you all over, in which case, I suppose the 'laying on of hands' will work.

James 5:14 talks about the elders of the church anointing those who are sick and praying for them by the laying on of hands.
Luke 4:40 gives examples of Jesus laying His hands upon all who were brought before Him that they might be healed and Jesus said these same things you will do but even greater yet.
It's Biblical and there's no reason not to do it when your believing in faith.

Laying on of hands does work! I was skeptical at first but I was really sick 4 years ago. My dad's friend is a minister he came to the house & prayed for my family & then laid hands on me. When I got well I knwe that the Lord was working through this man & that I had to find him. When, I finally found him it was Sunday he was preaching. After service, I thanked him & began to cry. I attribute my getting well to the Lord.

Is this really you Don? I thought you said you only answer questions. Anyway, with due respect whether you are real or not. There is a certain kind of light that emanates out our hands and can be seen through a sensitive camera lens. We call it aura projections and oftentimes as believers see it helps to heal or to bless. If you have doubts about it then hold it until your skepticism is no longer there. Sometimes it is wiser to doubt.

No. I belonged to a cult when I was a kid, and I had hands laid on me for a disease and it didn't help a bit. But the meds my doctor gave me helped out a lot. I guess if you're suffering from a lack of physical affection, then laying on hands could help. Otherwise, try something else. From my experience, it's a scam.

My church does this every time someone is sent into the missions field or overseas in the military. My pastor allows a time for people to come forward and place their hands on the person that is leaving and that individual's family.
As for advice, I'm not sure what to tell you. In terms of praying for someone, just let tell God what is on your heart in reference to that person.

I don't believe a damn word you have to say and I find it hard to believe that someone could be such an incredible asshole!
But I do believe that God can and will lay his hands on you and when he does, you will not find a place to hide that God can not get you!
Do the world a favor and drop dead!

It's not about what other people believe. It's about what YOU believe. I have gone to a church where that was a common practice but I didn't believe in that particular minister so it didn't phase me or affect me.
That's not to say it's not real. The people that believed in it were having very real "to them" effects and revelations from it. Good luck.

Touch can be a powerful way of healing people as it conveys physical warmth, tenderness and a feeling that someone cares for you. I don't know whethe rI believe in the "laying on of hands' in the traditional (Christian) sense, but I know that a kiss, massage, hug or simple touch can be theraputic.
