it all depends on what altitude the jet is flying at, the speed, and the weight of the aircraft some jets will fly at lower speeds than others because of the weight, and may speed up after it burns off fuel... that being said, Los Angeles to Australia takes about 15 hours, tack on roughly 2 hoursmore for the trip from LA to Houston, Texas, you are looking at roughly 17-20 hours

From Dallas to Sydney you will need to make a stop over in San Francisco of Las Angeles. But total flight time will be about 18 hours. I have taken this flight previously from Las Vegas.
