I haven't, but I can tell you who does this the most--women sunbathing at the pools. I think one time I'm going to use it against them by doing likewise at the same time, very loudy & obviously, say something like "yeah, I'm at the pool, and there's this really cute looking hot mama with some incredible (fill in the blank); oh no, it's OK, she's on her cell phone, I'm sure she can't hear me talking about her like that."

HA HA, would serve her right.

whenever I am walking alone back from my car at night I always pretend to talk on my phone. I used to live in a neighborhood where a lot of creepy guys would hang out outside at night

Yes, to avoid those obnoxious sales people who try and force you into conversations to sell lotion and cheap jewelery from their cart shops in the middle of the mall. I hate that so much! If I was interested, I would approach them!

definite at the same time as i'm walking in the mall and the folk who takes surveys arise and ask you to take section I hate that once they positioned you on the spot so I basically save my cellular telephone through my ear and basically shake my head and pretend that i'm speaking!

yep! zillions of times it can help in a uncomfortable situation..like if ur walking into a store and dont wanna be pestered with 'can i help u" or if u wanna get out of a situation or just seem busy its always good...esp if ur being followed by a weird person....
