There is a great site that will walk you through it. Keep in mind new government tax benefits cover most if not all of the cost.

my parents adopted a 2 month old 3 years ago and it was crazy at the time. I dont know much about adoption agencys because ours was through a family member but it took 6 months to finalize and the baby was 8 months old when it finally went through. we were scared to death everyday that the mother would change her mind. It took cps coming to the house and a lawyer. There was so much paperwork and legal fees my parents payed agut 4,000 dollors, but through it all i have a beautiful 3 year old sister and i watch her and her mom has 3 other children and shes a drug addict and she said she gave my sister away because she was the ugliest of her kids. My sister is now a nonstop toddler who is beautiful and tells me im the best sister in teh world, and i wouldnt take back anything that our family went through. It is a blessing and i think god everyday.

My best friend and her husband adopted a baby almost two years ago, but it took them almost five years to get him. They had tons of paperwork to go through, interviews with the social agency, secure a couple of loans to pay legal fees, and then they had to get recommendations from their friends and family to turn into their worker. They had three adoptions fall through (the mom either changing her mind at the last minute, or in one case, the mom scamming them for money). Finally, they succeeded in obtaining a closed adoption. The legal process to finalize the adoption took about a year after that.

Go through an adoption agency.

Or check your local department of family and childrens services. Often times foster children are available for adoption.'

Just a baby? What about the kids in the foster system? You will be on a long waiting list for the US because there are not a lot of "babies" but there are PLENTY of foster children.

To adopt within the US, you can either find an adoption agency, an adoption lawyer or you can adopt through your state's foster care system.

If you want to adopt internationally, you must find an international adoption agency. If you want one agency to do everything it must be what they call a "full service" agency.

1. Contact an adoption agency.

2. Ask them.

I'm not trying to be snotty but seriously, you might want to learn to spell before you start. i would think if you had anything you had to write, say a letter to the prospective mother, and there were words misspelled it might turn her off. it should read what do i have to go THROUGH, not THREW

Its a lot of red tape, dealing with the parents, house inspections, a LOT of regular paperwork, and the government.
