I've always been kind of a loner, but lately it's been getting out of control. I went to school today and I was completely terrified when I found myself surounded by hundereds of people. A kid in my class told me to stop clickling my pen, I didn't even know I was doing it, I was so nervous. I hated today, I'm almost 17 years old and I felt like a child. All I could think of was to run and put as much space between me and them as I possibly could. Whats happening to me? I'm falling apart.

that's how i felt just about all my life...i'm 30 now. i hated lunch at school (large cafeteria filled with peers). So i know how you feel. Have you researched or read about Social Anxiety? That may be what you have. For me, as I've gotten older it's become less of a problem. I still hate large parties, etc. but if you just try to control your thoughts and nervousness, you will feel better. After all, it is all in your head.

Your not falling apart, You might just be going threw a few changes or maybe it's something going on around you in your family that is effecting you. Here's what I would do, if you don't feel better soon talk to your parents and I'm sure they will help you but in any case be strong you can get passed this

You're OK, just very introverted. I'm like you but on not as extreme of a level. You might be a little claustrophobic too. I'm also claustrophobic.

You just have to redefine how you feel when you are in that predicament of being surrounded by mobs. Instead of calling it a fear, dismiss it as an annoyance and act to get away from that annoyance.

try to talk with an adult you trust and feel comfortable around. this includes family members, teachers, school councilers, even a phsycologist would really be able to help you. it seems to me that when you get in large crowds you hyper focas on your fear. instead, think of the advantages of being in a group: there's strength in numbers, and if you were to fall, someone would be there to catch you. think back to your past. REALLY HARD. did something happen to you that made you have this fear? if so, realize that it happened in your past, and try to forget about it. if someone hurt you physicall, mentally, or emotionally, forgive them, and maybe even talk to them. have them reassure you that it was out of child-like meanness, and that it won't happen again. best of luck to you!

Poor dear, you need to discuss this with your parents. This can be a serious problem. Do you know why you are afraid of the crowd? I suggest that you talk to someone, or even the school guidiance.
