grounding only works if you do it properly and grounding for too long is just impractical, of course your going to relent.

never threaten to do something you don't intend to do.

it's best to ground for 1 day but with no t.v. no PlayStation etc.

1day will feel like a month to your child, what ever the age.
if you give in to anything you've said will happen all your child is learning is that you don't mean what you say and they will get away with anything x

Like 'The Nanny's Naughty Corner', 'grounding' doesn't have to be more than a solitary day. It's 'punishment' to be administered for the violation to be pondered & recognised as unacceptable behaviour, not as a time for Gameboys, TV, Computers & Toys. It would only 'work' if more important 'grounding' such as Vacation Bible School is incorporated. Positive & Negative reinforcements are required in a continuing program of consistancy. Parents must rise to the challenge & face the awesome responsibility of the position or simply relinquish it to someone more willing & able. To be honest, I'm not ever going to be willing to accept that challenge.

I never had to "ground" my daughter. We had set rules, television, videos, games, were privileges that had to be earned rather than just handed to her. If she behaved she earned her privileges if she didn't behave she didn't earn them. Consequently no grounding no having a whiny kid in the house driving me nuts. She didn't grow up with a television in her bedroom, she didn't have her own computer until she was able to pay for her own. I'd say the major discipline problems arise when kids are handed these things without earning them. I used to get "I have my rights" from my daughter all the time to which I replied..."Yes you have the right to a roof over your head, food in your belly, clothes to cover your body, a place to sleep and access to an education and that is ALL. The rest is "fluff" and that has to be earned in MY HOME". Worked every time.

the main needed methods that the human beings can wrestle international warming is getting rid of their older style automobiles (1979 Buick) because of the fact, older automobiles emmitt greater poisonous fumes into the air. Its glaring that the greater technological stepped forward a motor vehicle is, the fewer volatile gases it emmitts. A motor vehicle that develop into outfitted 3 or 4 years in the past would be greater financial device friendly than a motor vehicle that develop into assembled 35 years in the past. for best populated cities inclusive of ny, Bus and Taxi companys could desire to replace contemporary automobiles with automobiles that are powered by hydrogen or electrical energy. merely think of, if each and every substantial city used the Toyota Prius as taxi's, there could be a decreased point of pollution, and likewise taxi fares must be notably decrease besides.

I wasn't grounded, neevr had to stay in, but certain priviledges were taken away, no money to go out with, back by a certain time or i'd not be getting the top i wanted, stuff like that, it made me do stuff cause i didnt want to miss out, ok its bribery, but it worked and i always did as i was told and dreaded it when i was in trouble as my dad would be pretty harsh in that way rather than just making me saty in, only had to be 10sec late and i lost whatever was gonna be taken away~! (23 now with my own son, dont reckon ill be grounding him when hes older either, whats the point in keeping kids in when they have so many gadgets and stuff in their room, alot of them dont wanna go out!

my dad grounded me for the first 2 years of high school and i completely agree with it. not being grounded for years, but grounding in general i think works. it's a system, do something i want and you get to do something you want.

I agree! They tend to do everything possible to drive us crazy while they are grounded.I solved that problem though. Mine had to go out side and pull weeds "we lived on a wheat ranch" plenty of weeds to pull!
