yes. at one point in his career he began to give all concert proceeds to charities that promoted world peace.
examples:
"In 1972, John Lennon gave a charity concert. The concert was held in Madison Square Garden, August 30, 1972, to help improve the living conditions of the mentally handicapped children. Starting with the Toronto Peace Festival in 1969, John with Yoko did a series of rock concerts as their statement of Peace and Love, and to spotlight various social issues effectively. All proceeds from the concerts were given to the needy."
Oh, and for you Yoko-haters: "Yoko Ono signed over the royalties of his song "Imagine", in perpetuity, to Amnesty International, a world-wide organization devoted to political prisoners." -- imdb.com

Lennon gave away millions to charity - the only thing is that he was very quiet about it. And, most of his concerts after the break-up of the Beatles were either for charity or to promote the cause of the anti-war movement. Yoko didn't get it all, but since his assassination, she's been having a blast spending it all.

It would appear that he gave some money to charity.
Whether or not it was only what he had left after paying for his heroin habit is anyone's guess.
We all know that continuing the demand for and directly financing the illegal drug trade supports world peace, though. And lining the pockets of heroin dealers is a great way to spread harmony.

Yes, he did.
He gave money to charity organizations and performed in many charity concerts.
A particular action I remember is that he donated bullet proof vests to the NY policemen since violence in NY city was pretty bad back then.

john was about as real as real gets...and, yes, he did give millions to charity, from amnesty international to the world wildlife fund, to various causes ranging from the mentally ill to civil rights groups to women's groups, to educational charities...and no, he did NOT give a dime to the IRA, or any group that practiced or advocated political change through violence...he walked the walk...agree with the things he said and did or not, you have to admit that he did not back off from what he believed...and as for whatever he left to yoko, keep in mind that, whether you liked, loved, or loathed her, she was the woman he loved...she was there for him...she saved him from himself, and he'd be the first to admit that...show the man's memory some respect...

YES - a great deal of money & inspiration.
He was a vehement activist & demonstrator and sought publicity thereof - but never publicised his donations.
